It seems like a pretty slow news week, with the exception of all-Bucky-all-the-time.

This afternoon at 5pm the Erie County Control Board meets to decide whether to accept or reject Giambra’s STAR plan to shift around school taxes. They’ll probably reject, but it’s still unclear whether they’ll go to a hard control board.

At a Coalition discussion last night, the control board came up and many of the proponents of the board going hard seem to focus on the cost side (how there’ll be a wage freeze, hiring freeze, suspension of certain aspects of union contracts). Not many, however, focus on the revenue side and the fact that the control board could follow PFM’s recommendations regarding increased fees and possibly seek tax hikes.

How would that strike you?
