Looking for a Wii?

So, you’re in the Buffalo area and you want a Wii?

We got ours at Target on Transit. How?

1. Go to your local retailer and ask them when they get their shipments in. (Back in November, Target got them in on Sunday morning at 8:00.)

2. Get in line around 7:00 AM (maybe earlier, depending on the temporal proximity to Christmas), and wait for the doors to open.

3. Walk out the door with your Wii, or try next week.

Get an extra Wii remote and two nunchuk controllers while you’re at it.

Does this method assume that the given store will get new Wiis every week? I was under the impression that they didn’t, and you’d have to check their weekly ad. If it’s in the ad (something you can check online at ~6am Sunday morning), then they’ll have a few in stock and you can proceed with the “get in line at 7am” plan.

After much deliberation and research of Wii, XBox 360 and PS3 for the first purchase of a game console since my old Atari, I decided to get the kids an XBox 360. Buying a house was a breeze compared to going through the process of researching and buying the damn thing.

Ahh the sacrifices you make for your kids. My wife certainly doesn’t appreciate all the time and effort that I made making sure that they would appreciate their new video system. [sarcasm]

Someone else I knew happened to be outside the Nintendo store in Manhattan on Black Friday when they decided to roll out 300 Wii consoles for sale. Your methodology is much more sound than dumb luck.

Can someone explain to me why the Wii is such a big deal this year? I am not up on this gaming stuff, but my kids got the Wii last Christmas…isn’t it already a “been there, done that” thing? Or did they improve it? I don’t understand the shortage issue, I guess…….The Xbox 360 or whatever it’s called is supposed to be the thing for tyhis year…at least that’s what my kids want…..Anyways, does anybody get a chess set anymore?

Or, buy it on Amazon the day after Thanksgiving at midnight when a handful were released. Pay no tax, pay no shipping. w00t!
