Please Call the City

2 Jun

Here’s another one that’s slipped through the imminent threat/CitiStat firewall.

Fix Buffalo posts about this house
at 70 Riley Street:

Today I’m asking you for help. Please take a moment and call the Mayor’s Call and Resolution Center at 716-851-4890 or complete the form available from that link. Or if you prefer, contact Councilman Brian Davis who represents the Ellicott District where 70 Riley Street is located. He can be reached at 716-851-4980. In either case please let them know that 70 Riley Street is clearly beyond repair and should be demolished immediately.

Then go back and let him know in comments that you’ve called/complained.

Alan…thanks for helping me get the word out to a larger audience. Just went by the place. Still standing. I’m following this closely.

Yes, thanks for bringing this to the forefront. This goes to the bigger question which nobody seems to have an answer for: How do demolitions get prioritized in the City of Buffalo? Bob Franke has asked the same question in his Grant Ferry Association newsletter this month. A perfectly salvageable house was torn down on West Ferry while other houses around the corner in much worse shape are so far waiting. Not a wise or safe way to go. Is City government capable of getting rid of the really unsafe or UN-likely to be rehabbed ones while waiting on the less urgent or higher likelihood of rehab houses??? I bet I will not be getting a good answer to this anytime soon. The truth on the surface at least smacks of incompetence, lack of foresight or just plain reactive politics.

I like the open, airy floorplan .

Even the graffiti says it looks unsafe
