Hmmm…how about “Sir, thank you for serving your country while imprisoned in a POW camp while your opponent was home choosing which Ivy league school he would go to whenhe grows up”

“Older gentleman”? Not exactly the high road…

“Sir, thank you for serving your country while imprisoned in a POW camp while your opponent was home choosing which Ivy league school he would go to whenhe grows up”

His wife and daughter would say that? Really?

Also, Obama spent 2 years at Occidental before transferring to Columbia. KTHXBAI.

    Serving his country, or himself?

After being periodically slapped around for “three or four days” by his captors who wanted military information from him, McCain called for an officer on his fourth day of captivity. He told the officer, “O.K., I’ll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital.” -U.S. News and World Report, May 14, 1973 article written by former POW John McCain

Sounds like someone who could learn a little from Khalid Sheikh “martyr me” Mohammed.

Why should anyone expect the high road from Obama partisans?

“Older gentleman”? Not exactly the high road.

Instead of complaining about what BP writes to support his candidate, just give it right back the same way. Get into a condescending mind frame like Obama did when he dismissively characterized his deceased grandmother as a typical white person (which wasn’t stereotyping because, um well because) or when he calls female adults he just met “sweetie”. If McCain called women that, the outrage about him having gender disrespect due to his age would be flowing in all 57 of the states Obama says we have plus a few more he hasn’t been to yet. Doesn’t matter.

Y’all shouldn’t be showing disrespect to the next POTUS.

Snips don’t cut it. He was never taken to a hosptial. He was offered early release on several occasions, as the son and grandson of Navy Admirals, they NVA WANTED DESPERATELY to show the US that Rank Hath its Priviliges. Yet McCain wouldn’t take a release.

He was appointed Chaplain to the prisoners in the Hanoi Hilton.

One of the “sermons” he gave from scripture is a verse even the agnostic/athiesitc Godless fucking heathens that comment here have heard.
“Give unto Cesear what is Cesear’s, and unto God what is God’s”

    AND HE EXPLAINED

Brothers, don’t pray to God to release us. Ceasar put us here, and only Ceasar can release us. Pray to God to make us the best people we can be while we are held as Prisoners of War.

So Snarky, read a bit further, and take your snippet and use it for a suppository.

“No… not the Viagra John… the other ones… you know, to control your temper?”

    McCain in Hanoi

McCain: Tough guy? Or scared of his Daddy?

A September 13, 1968, cable from Averell Harriman, U.S. ambassador-at-large, to the State Department confirmed that McCain’s captors had offered him early release, but that he had refused. The cable reported that, according to the Vietnamese, “Commander McCain feared that if he was released before the war is over, President [Lyndon] Johnson might ’cause difficulties’ for his father because people will wonder if McCain had been brainwashed.” Harriman speculated that instead, McCain was abiding by the Code of Conduct.– The Phoenix New Times March 25, 1999

McCain sells out his POW pals for better treatment:

June 1969 – “Reds Say PW Songbird Is Pilot Son of Admiral. . . Hanoi has aired a broadcast in which the pilot son of United States Commander in the Pacific, Adm. John McCain, purportedly admits to having bombed civilian targets in North Vietnam and praises medical treatment he has received since being taken prisoner.” New York Daily News, June 5, 1969

here’s what REAL evangelicals think of McCain’s faith, Hank.

  12. Russell June 11, 2008 at 2:18 pm #

Nobody’s time in Hanoi was easy, by any means. If, indeed, he did stay because he feared what his dad would have to endure if he left, then that is unbelievably admirable. And so what if there’s an unsubstantiated broadcast of him saying those things? Everyone knows statements like those are against the Geneva Conventions and no one believes them. You really should be ashamed of yourself for even trying to bring this stuff up. You’re about as low a human being as there is.

Under no physical duress or abuse of any kind, the Obamas have said things nearly or equally as inflammatory about our country, but you’re fine with that.

  13. Snarky Snarkmore McSnarkamaphone June 11, 2008 at 2:52 pm #

You’re about as low a human being as there is.

Yeah, me and all my McCain-hating POW/MIA-activist friends. Very low. Dismal. Probably we should shut the fuck up and accept reality, eh? You know, go on down to The Wall there, have a reflective moment, hang up the leather vest, lower the flag, move on after all this time…

Look, either McCain didn’t have it nearly as bad as he tell it, in which case he’s a liar, OR, he had it every bit as bad as he tells it, in which case his position on US torture is rather amazing- for a guy who was, you know, tortured.

Or was he? Gosh, it really makes you wonder…

Maybe his position on US torture makes sense, because he knows how effective it is, having been tortured and telling them all that stuff he knew, doing their propaganda ops, all that. Oh, he didn’t do that; torture wasn’t effective. So why does he support it? Maybe he has no idea if torture works or not, because he’s a liar. Look, he knows it doesn’t work, right?

    Zeusdamn-it, my head hurts now.

  14. Russell June 11, 2008 at 3:24 pm #

“Friends” is not a term that applies to one person. Sampley has his own agenda and he’s gotten himself quite rich and comfortable exploiting the suffering of others. Now he suddenly has a problem with a veteran exploiting his Medal of Honor for political purposes just because that vet wears it to political events? That’s also very pathetic. Sounds like you’re trolling the gutters looking for people to back up your trash.

Again, no one had an easy time in the Hanoi Hilton, even if you have one discredited source that tries to claim otherwise.

    I believe it’s called “swiftboating”

  16. Russell June 11, 2008 at 4:13 pm #

Typical. You guys cry and carry on when something is done to one of your candidates, but cannot wait to use it to your benefit. Once again, you’re just showing how much you love wallowing in gutter filth–real class.

  17. hank June 11, 2008 at 4:38 pm #

I believe the Liberals call it “You just don’t get it”
It works for THEM Snarky–take a dose of your own medicine.

McCain’s positions on torture seem crazy. Not just to Veterans like myself, but to those liberals who fight their battles far from the actual battlefields, like Fort Living Room.

But then again, I’ve never been tortured, except in training. If you think SERE training in the Phillipine jungle is a joke, you should read up on it. I endured electrical shocks, and had my nose broken with a piece of bamboo. Compared to being sprayed with Cop-strengh pepper spray to be authorized to carry it on the job as a Deputy Sheriff, it was a walk in the fucking park compared to SERE. And SERE only runs for 10-14 days. McCain endured it for YEARS.

You’ll never see a picture of John McCain with his arms above the level of his chest. He can’t raise them any further from torture.

NOT the kind of torture that your buddies capture for you on movie film so you can look like a fucking hero chasing non-existant NVA/VC around a basket of rice in some ville, like the REAL hero of the Vietnam war, John Fucking Kerry–Who came home and decided to shit all over his brothers still fighting in the fields and rivers of the Nam.

What Kerry got, he deserved and MORE. And you’ve got the balls to denigrate a man who after surviving the destruction of his aircraft, survived years of torture, starvation and isolation at the hands of what YOU probably call “The Heroic People’s Army”

    Go fuck thyself repeatedly.

looks like somebody’s got a VP spot in mind alright.

Gen. Clark also clearly argues for why McCain’s military creds are, in fact, pretty week. Which is true- training, about 10.5 hours of sorties, 5 years in a POW camp and then becoming Navy political liaison to congress ain’t exactly like, oh, “Supreme Allied Commander” or “4-Star General.” Which of course is exactly why Clark is on Obama’s shortlist.
