Jack Davis’ Swan Song

7 Sep

This should be the last nail in the coffin of Jack Davis’ annoying political career.

If a millionaire can’t get a simple clerical issue correct, what else would he miss when potentially working in Congress? No word yet on whom on his staff he’s blaming for this massive oversight.

Jack Davis collected 7,000 signatures to get his “Save Jobs and Farms Party” on the November ballot, but he forgot the most important one: his own.

The state Board of Elections on Friday threw Davis’ new party off the November ballot because he failed to file a document accepting the party’s nomination for Congress in the 26th District, commission spokesman Robert A. Brehm said.

“The state board commissioners voted today to determine that the . . . petitions of Mr. Davis are invalid,” Brehm said. “The reason was the failure to timely file an acceptance by the candidate, which is required by state Election Law.”

Davis, an Akron millionaire who has vowed to spend $3 million of his money on the race, has until next Wednesday to go to court to appeal the decision.

Brehm indicated, however, that the ruling was an easy one on the part of the board.

“I don’t see how we can waive a statutory requirement,” he said.

Davis’ campaign manager, Luke Vaughn, attributed the problem to “a clerical error” and said the campaign is trying to find out how it happened.

Jack’s going to lose next Tuesday, and now he’s been kicked off the November ballot. If he ever runs again, I have no doubt that he will blame his staff for his loss. Because he can’t ever take personal responsibility for his own failings.

Maybe next time he can outsource his campaign management to someone competent in Bangalore.

Who is his campaign manager? Does he have a field consultant? You can easily blame either one of them…. My vote – campaign manager. Didn’t Jack go through 2 or 3 of them last election???? I would not be surprised if he has fired this one already.

this is hilarious!!!!!!! Where’s hudson to cream over how much of a rip off it is for Davis and how he hates the BOE?

This seems like the Davis mindset come back to bite him in the ass. The Davis campaign has been setting signs in towns’ right-of-ways in violation of zoning ordinances, but those fines are chicken feed. And haven’t there been instances in the past where the Davis campaign has thrown money at a problems that have gone south with no apparent regret on Jack’s part? Isn’t it about $10 million for three losing efforts by now? Well, this time the problem can’t be solved by throwing money at it, but since that practice has served in the past, you can see where reflex took over and they simply acted out of habit one (hopefully) last time.

Wow. That is really really really stupid. And if he really thought he was going to win the primary, he wouldn’t have needed an extra lifeline. Go Powers!

hudson – how many millions do you have?

Davis wasted millions on 2 runs for congress – and he’s such a bad candidate that the party he created won’t even nominate him!!!

    Now that’s a bad candidate!

I suppose it looks like a simple mistake, the kind that would be made by worrying about the thousand or so other details that could invalidate a petition under NYS election law designed to protect incumbents and the party faithful.

The real concern should be limited choices voters have due to the election laws.

to quote the great iggy pop frome metallic ko…..

Yay! Let’s celebrate limiting the voter’s options on election day because we don’t agree with the views of a candidate! Democracy!

I think the man is pure scum but if enough citizens have signed a petition saying they want him on the ballot, he should be on the ballot.
