A New Pledge of Allegiance?

30 May

I found this interesting.

I pledge allegiance to the principles of the American Revolution, stated by Jefferson, and for which the Minute Men and Washington’s Army fought: that government’s only purpose is to protect our natural rights to life, liberty, and property; that any government that does more than protect our natural rights must thereby violate those same rights and become a tyranny that the people have the right to alter or abolish. I pledge to resist that tyranny by peaceful means if at all possible.

The United States is a tyranny. Glad we sorted that out.

    worst . . . pledge . . . ever

    Finally we agree.

Torture approved by both parties, systematically warehousing minority populations in horrendous jails and prisons, bombing kids and moms in undeclared wars in the third world, history’s greatest bank heist ever.

    Yeah, that’s tyranny.

Obviously, no liberal would pledge allegiance to the principles of the Declaration. You guys overthrew that document.

And those would be based on what you determine Jefferson was actually stating. Are we going with this as an absolute interpretation, one that is as relevant now as it was then?
And I would appreciate it if Mike would reply since Mr. O is rather ill mannered…

Well, there is no truth. It’s all relative.

Guess what said is not true either.

I like when Ostro and Rus challenge people to fight them. I guess that’s all part of that grass roots (but I am way smarter than the rest of you assholes) appeal…

A modern liberal would never take pledge that included the words “natural rights”.
They are too busy imagining new “civil rights” for some that will alienate others from their natural rights. That’s tyranny too!
