It appears Richard Clarke somehow got under Dick Cheney’s skin to the point that Dick Cheney can’t hide it well at all. Let’s hope he isn’t married to a covert CIA Operative.

inadvertently, could the Bush years make Obama a great president?

Lincoln had his Buchanan. FDR had his Hoover. Even Regan had his Carter. Is it the juxtaposition? Is it the years of accumulated misjudgments? The fact the preceding president was so out of touch that any updates to policy seem to be far sighted and thoughtful?

I guess history will tell us.

“inadvertently, could the Bush years make Obama a great president?”

It certainly isn’t a hard act to follow, but there is the possibility that Obama could accomplish something all by himself. Not because he followed Bush, not because he’s black, not because he’s hip…..but because he is a pretty intelligent guy, worthy of the office.

…but Obama is taking over a crumbling car company! He’s obviously a socialist, ’cause socialist’s are known for overthrowing dying companies! Also, he wants to convert everyone to Islam! And..and..and…he wasn’t even born here!

Huh? Oh, sorry. I was having a dream that I was listening to talkradio.

    another juxtaposition!

but i really couldnt apply that to say Carter or Hoover – both very intelligent individuals, just somewhat ineffective as presidents. so it kind of mucked up the waters of my “ineffective as a setup to greatness” theorem.

ill agree a president needs intelligence (or at the very least political astuteness) to become great, but his predecessor does not necessarily have to be a dunce. alls they have to be is really out of touch.

    its a work in progress.

I like how he hasn’t even been in office for a year and you guys are already hyping him as an all time great president….

    Perspective people. Perspective.

no jon, we are just so excited to have a president who speaks in complete sentences. wonder if bush ever finished reading my pet goat yet ?

    Jon Splett:

I don’t see hype as much as I see REFLIEF.

Repuglicans cannot tell the difference either, so don’t worry.

“you guys are already hyping him as an all time great president….”

OK, Splett, I said he COULD acccomplish something on his own, and not because of his race, youth, or predecessor. I said he was intelligent, and worthy of the office…..which many Conservs dispute, saying he only got elected because he is black.

I DID NOT say that he was an all-time great president, the messiah, a greek god, or any other super hero.

Who said what now? I think you missed a modifier in there.

Did you guys miss the equation: Dick Cheney = the flippancy of evil. Cheney makes sophistry look like mathematical certainty.
