Golisano Treads Into Nut Territory

23 Jun

Naples’ own Tom Golisano is considering for the U.S. Senate. But he’s not taking on Schumer or Gillibrand. We’re talking about one of the seats from Florida.

I thought he was all about cleaning up Albany or something.

What’s the difference between Tom Golisano and a kook? About $1.8 billion.

I don’t think someone elected as a US Senator would be allowed to remain as the owner of an NHL franchise, so at least there’s that.

I don’t care about TG, but so far this looks like it says more about the state of journalism today treading into nut territory than it does anything about him.

Something called the Jacksonville Osberver (what is that, btw? – it’s not the daily paper down there) publishes this: “South Florida political blog Politics1.com is reporting that New York billionaire Tom Golisano “is now contemplating a Democratic run for Florida’s open US Senate seat.”

In response to something called Politics1.com publishing this:“Sources tell Politics1 that billionaire businessman Tom Golisano — a former three-time Independent candidate for New York Governor — is now contemplating a Democratic run for Florida’s open US Senate seat. “

Sources? Sources of Politics1.com, as quoted by jaxobserver.com, and then reported as fact by a bunch of newspapers and other blogs.

Any truth to the rumor Nicole Kidman is considering a run for Gillibrand’s seat to help revive Studio Arena?

Hmmm…don’t know about the NHL, but Senator Herb Kohl owned the Milwaukee Bucks for quite some time while sitting on Capitol Hill.
