About that Volker Protest

21 Aug

Dale Volker is the poster boy for out-of-touchedness among our politicians “serving” western New York.  When the cops told them they couldn’t go onto public property to protest Volker, the cops were wrong.  Erie Basin Marina is quite clearly publicly owned property, although parts are operated by a private concessionaire with ties to City Hall.

The protesters obeyed the police order to stay off of public property and stay on other public property.  How come?  The cops were wrong. Waltz onto the Marina grounds.  What’s Volker going to do?  Have you arrested?  That would have been awesome to use against him during the next election.

I can only speak for myself regarding arrest, it was my birthday didn’t want to spend the rest of it at police headquarters or the holding center.

Seeing how Erie County Holding Center has a reputation along the lines of GitMo lately, I don’t blame you Mike.

Because Jon brings it up, I saw our illustrious Sherriff at the fair yesterday, and before I even knew what I was doing I sing-songed “Guantanamo Howard” at him. It was just the first thing that came out of my mouth. As he was not in uniform, my wife was very confused.

Sadly the same duds who have re-elected their chief dud will probably vote for him again and again. But isn’t he amazingly lifelike. Nearly as much so as the dud cops who are unaware of the First Amendment.
The last time I saw this sort of civil liberty transgression was over forty years ago and the victims had to seek sanctuary in a church then flee the country. Such spirit is gone.
