Mayoral Candidate Matthew Ricchiazzi

27 Aug

The WNYMedia.net interview is here, in three parts. Ricchiazzi might be young, but he’s not dumb. He’s energetic and frankly has better ideas coming out of his mouth than just about any other candidate for Mayor in recent memory. Check him out at www.changebuffalo.org.

I found myself nodding along to most of what Matt said in these interviews, punctuated with a few “hell yeahs.”

He can’t win and he’s wasting his time.

There, I said it.(Where have we heard this before …)

I don’t think anyone could refute the fact this young gentleman is “not dumb”, as Pundit put it. He definitely has a lot of good ideas as well as a strong grasp of the broader concepts of what embodies good government and good planning. Where he really falls short is his extremely contradictory platform and total lack of recognition of all the regulations and organizational roadblocks that the City of Buffalo and whoever its Mayor is faces. Of course, he’s a gimmick candidate, so I guess that doesn’t really matter.

Hope we can keep him around until he can win. Send him a copy of each season of the wire in the mean time.

    From the Buffalo News 9/1/2009

“While it was thought that the winner of the Democratic primary could potentially face two candidates who circulated independent petitions, Democratic Elections Commissioner Dennis E. Ward said last week he doubted either Matthew Ricchiazzi or Clarence Carnahan had garnered enough valid signatures to get onto the ballot.”
