This probably includes Monday, too. On the road. Read other crap.
In the meantime, the Olympics? Really?
Criticizing a president is one thing – and important. Hoping he fails – even to the point of celebrating a national loss – is a sign of partisanship that has become pathologically blind to any sense of perspective or patriotism.
There’s a population out there that’s completely lost its senses, its reason, and its shit. It’s over with them. It’s just over. They celebrate losing the Olympics because Obama was involved. They celebrate when America fails. I guess we can shut down that whole “librulz hope America fails” bullshit, because we don’t. We also don’t celebrate when it happens. Conservatives do. So do our local glibertarians. It’s over.
First I said who cares. Of course we didn’t win, Obama tried to help. I remember a line from Jimmy Griffin about screwing up a one-car funeral. That’s our president. It doesn’t matter to me. Then I realized: I have an architect for a client who has a large project in Chicago that is now less likely to move forward. Hence the failure hits me in the wallet as an investment adviser.
Perspective from across the pond: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6859031.ece
The lovely FLOTUS perhaps should not have remenisced about sitting on her sick Daddy’s lap to watch Carl Lewis win a gold medal. That would have put her at twenty years of age. Either lying or icky.
I’ve never seen resentment turn so pathological like that. He was doing what the other leaders were doing, taking a shot for the country. Is that what we elect them to do? I still think Maureen O’dowd had a very valid point a few sundays ago. The population you cite still can’t wrap their arms around who is president and we desperately need them to go sit in a corner for awhile.
It is not so much hoping that Obama fails, it is the realization that Obama is failing at everything.
No, Mike. It’s not.
wow. talk about the big ‘fuck you’…so much for obama’s great standing in the rest of the world, huh? in other news, the concentration camp at guantanamo bay is still open, americans are still being slaughtered in iraq and afghanistan, 40 million of us remain without health care and the economy’s still in the shitter.
@ Mike in WNY – well, at least Hitler managed to host an Olympics, eh?
@Hudson – the concentration camp on Delaware Avenue is still open too ! I wonder if they get TP at gitmo ?
What has Obama Failed at?
most evrything other than getting elected.
@Hudson – you talking about Howard ? Because that is right on target !
FOR THOSE FOND OF HITLER COMPARISONS: In case you cannot imagine how a group of people so embraced a racist nut who had a head filled with gross distortions of reality…..look no further than the Sarah Palin/Michelle Malkin crowd. How hard would it be to imagine THEM and their ilk rallying behind a Hitler? Sadly, given what we’ve seen from Obamaphobes, not difficult at all.
Actually, Chicago’s failure is due in large part to “Chalkie”, the unofficial mascot of the Chicago anti-Olympic effort. Chalkie is a chalk outline homicide victim.
“Chalkie” I love it!
hateraid…obviously you’re obsessed with tim howard. you hate him intensely, a hatred that colors your every comment. guess what? he’s still gonna win by a wide margin. get used to it.
Mike H, Why don’t you list what he has failed at?
1. getting gov. paterson to announce he wasn’t running for gov.
2. getting a health care bill passed before congress took it’s summer break.
3. getting a climate change law passed this year.
4. closing the concentration camp at guantanamo this year.
5. getting the u.s. out of harm’s way in iraq.
6. not escalating the war in afghanistan.
7. opposing a federal shield law for journalists that would keep reporters like judith miller out of jail.
8. nominated bill richardson as commerce secretary.
9. gave queen elizabeth II an ipod with his speeches on it.
10. failed at getting the olympics despite being the first american president to get involved with the process. even hitler got the fucking olympics.
So there’s where the loony right is heaaded: Hitler was actually BETTER than Obama.
Obama found out for real what Kerry and Gore wanted to: “The Power of My Personality” don’t get it done.
For ages I’ve marveled at the left worrying about “How the rest of the world feels about the USA” The cause for Obama’s “Apologize to the entire fucking world” Tour this year.
So now you fucking know. As an American, I never gave one fat rat shit about what any other country in the world thinks about the USA—people aren’t risking their lives to get INTO other countries, Besides, the IOC is one of the bigger gangs of international thugs on the Planet. They probably figured —1. There isn’t enough money in Chi-town to steal, and 2. Obama and his Chi-town thugs wouldn’t give them a big enough cut of what THEY stole.
When the IOC announced the USA was out of it, there were some people very happy. A smelly little bastard with a beard and a Members Only jacket in Tehran, a pot-bellied little prick in Pyongyang, a couple of ancient brothers in Cuba, and a greasy piece of shit in Venezuela. Just rubbing their hands and lauging like a school girl.
Obama just got his come-uppance for apologizing to the whole world. Perhaps he should get that “Everything about the USA from 1776 until I got immaculated sucked a dick” complex out of his head. He screwed the fucking pooch. “I’m Sorry” didn’t get the job done now, did it? Now perhaps he should get back to doing the job he was sent to DC to do—-or at least get the people with the brains that tell him what to say and do busy again.
@brians…it was a joke, you moron.
Not a big fan of SNL…but skimming thru channels I came across this Obama thing last night which sort of hits the mark in terms of accomplishments……
It’s intriguing, but not unexpected I suppose, that Chicago’s (go figure!) bid for the 2016 Olympics should be the issue of the day among the Lefty blogosphere, and that its failure should be an occasion for mourning.
I wonder whose side they’d have been on if Dallas, under the imprimatur of “you know who”, had campaigned four years ago for the 2012 Games. Could it be that it’s only good if The One wants it, and that it’s bad if their enemy wants it?
Lol..I love it Mike. I can’t believe that skit got by Immelt at GE. I bet someone gets fired at SNL this week…NBC can’t risk losing their cozy relationship with the White House.
Shorter Ward: I love it when America loses.
Also, President Bush did support New York City’s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics back when NYC made the final five in 2005, as well he should have. Of course we all remember the avalanche of obnoxious cheering and “Fuck America, Yeah” bloviating from the Left when New York lost to London….er, that’s right, it never happened.
This is not Obama’s loss…it’s a loss for the nation. Not a huge deal relative to the domestic and foreign crises on our plate currently, but it would have been nice to host the world.
@Hudson -I hate Howard apologists almost as much as I hate him. I hate that you troll with stupid statements yet can not list one positive accomplishment he has made.
Sorry to break in on this thoughtful exchange of ideas, but …
Mike –
At the risk of encouraging your delusions of significance, the problems with your assertion in another thread (http://wnymedia.net/wnymedia/buffalopundit/2009/10/about-that/#comments) — that I, through use of a pseudonym, suggested that you have Steve Pigeon’s balls in your mouth — are too numerous to ignore.
1) If I had anything to write or say to you, I would do so directly and not via someone else’s blog, the preferred vehicle of internet tough guys. I’m making this one exception to clear up any misconceptions left by your aforementioned accusation.
2) I know how to spell your name.
3) While I no longer move in your lofty intellectual circle, if I were to take an anonymous potshot, I don’t think I would choose my son’s first name as a pseudonym.
4) Unlike you, I’m not a self-proclaimed expert in election law, so I have no opinion on the legality of no opinion of the legality of Pigeon’s political activities. Interesting, though, that you find even the suggestion of an investigation to be such an outrage.
5) This makes at least a half-dozen different commenters you have accused here or on other blogs of being me. You’ve been wrong each time, but then, as demonstrated in your pamphlet on a weekly basis, intellectual honesty has never really been your thing, anyway.
(Speaking of which, I do enjoy it when you attempt to defend your careless use of facts by attacking the commenter who brings it up, then claim the validity of your point does not depend on the veracity of the information you use to support it. Almost as much as when you lecture on journalistic or business ethics, or refer to anyone else as a paranoid obsessive.)
6) As for what I do for a living, you’re right. There is far more honor in striving to be a poor man’s Joe Illuzzi.
Sorry for interrupting, everyone. Please, let the petulant contrarianism resume.
i was writing about president obama. you asked whether my comments about him were actually about sheriff howard, knowing full well they were not. that is the definition of trolling. the only reason i wrote anything about the sheriff’s race in the first place was that i thought perhaps people reading wnymedia.net might get the mistaken impression that howard was going to lose in the general election, just like they were told repeatedly that the landslide victory of byron brown over what’s his name last month was never gonna happen.
tim howard will win in november by a handy margin, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. you ought to get some professional help, dickless.
bush didn’t go to fucking copenhagen.
thanks dave.
@ Mike Hudson: Berlin was awarded the Olympics during the Weimar Republic.
A friend from Europe points out that after the first round there was a Prime Minister and a King that also went home from Copenhagen. Only one of the eliminated world leaders was ridiculed in his own country. We’ve really become something to be proud of.
@mikehudson – pretty sure I remember you telling us that there was no way Obama would A. get the nomination and then B. Win . If you don’t mind, I think I’ll still cast my vote for Glascott and then wait and see what happens in the Sheriff’s race, rather than take your word for it.
pete…seriously, if you can find a single instance of me telling anyone that obama would lose to mccain, please cut & paste it here, because i don’t think i ever said that. as for the primary, certainly it was my position that hillary would have made a better president. that is still my position.
and chris from op, thanks for looking it up on wikipedia, but — like i said earlier here — it was a fucking joke.
If you can find a single statement by BP here that Byron Brown was going to lose the election – let alone “repeated” references as you alleged – please cut and paste it here. Note: BP merely discussing Brown’s potential legal problems don’t count, only (repeated) statements that he would lose the election.
If it was somewhere else on WNYMedia.net, fine – I only regularly read this blog.
hank and hudson, you keep forgeting obama has kept us safe.
byron you jackass…
here is what i wrote (and you linked to):
“the only reason i wrote anything about the sheriff’s race in the first place was that i thought perhaps people reading wnymedia.net might get the mistaken impression that howard was going to lose in the general election, just like they were told repeatedly that the landslide victory of byron brown over what’s his name last month was never gonna happen.”
first, i never said pundit said anything.
second, i never said anyone said brown would lose the election.
what i said was that it wasn’t a close race and it wasn’t.
You also alleged that someone at wnymedia.net “repeatedly” said that the landslide wasn’t going to happen – so where was that said, repeatedly?
mike hudson says:
April 23, 2008 at 5:57 pm
what it means is that obama has been unable to win a single big swing state other than the one he represents in congress. his wife’s stated lack of pride in her country and his pastor’s blistering “god damn america!” were suddenly again made relevant by obama’s own “bitter” people “clinging to guns and religion” remark.
oddly, these are the two things addressed by the founders in the u.s. consitution, a document that still means something to average americans, if not real smart people like pundit and obama.
finally, it means MCCCAIN ‘08!!!!!
LOL
i probably did write that. people were pissing me off and i knew it would piss them off. of course i didn’t believe that, and one instance does not “repeatedly” make. as for you byron, you’ve already wasted enough of my time today. do your own fucking research for a change, though you might try reading geoff kelly’s blog here. he made a career out of saying it was going to be a close race. and while your at it, read chris smith’s accounty of the “scientific” method employed to predict same.
now go do your homework, school starts early tomorrow.
Mickey Kearns Can’t Win by Chris Smith.
Kearns remains an underdog per Geoff Kelly.
Maybe they both predicted a close race in that issue of The Nation with the cover depicting Bush as Hitler?
those pieces were both written very early in the campaign, byron, as you know. wny.media projected a close race, and kelly was on television even as the returns were coming in saying they were neck and neck.
here is something that is 100 percent verifiably true: you are a silly little man, or woman, as the case may be. you actually take this stuff seriously, and you don’t even get paid to think about it. politics is a game, no more important in the scheme of things than baseball of boxing. it is a form of organized crime.
men go to war because they enjoy going to war. republicans have done it, democrats have done it, nazis, communists, anarchists, libertarians and, in ancient times, gauls and celts and romans and greeks.
the only reasons anyone runs for political office are power, money and fame. i know you don’t believe that, and over the past 30-plus years i’ve met numerous politicians who won’t even admit it to themselves. they are the most dangerous of them all.
they round up cadres of true believers such as yourself or the people who listen to glenn beck and pit you all against each other so you won’t be paying attention while they steal your money, fuck your daughters and kill your sons. instead you’ll be combing through some web site searching every issue of the nation ever printed in order to prove some guy you don’t even know is wrong about a minor point.
you’re pathetic.
Of all the bullshit in Hudson’s list above, this is my favorite:
“7. opposing a federal shield law for journalists that would keep reporters like judith miller out of jail.”
Judith Miller should be occupying a federal jail cell for the rest of her worthless life. Not only did she act as the primary shill for the Bush Administration’s lies about WMD’s in Iraq, she was a co-conspirator with “Scooter” Libby in disclosing Valerie Plame’s identity as a CIA agent in 2003 to retaliate against her husband, Amb. Joe Wilson, who had written an Op-Ed in the NYT critical of the Bush Administration’s manipulation of intelligence regarding Iraq’s existing weapons program. She tried to invoke the First Amendment to avoid testifying to the grand jury, even though the Constitution does not protect reporters summoned to testify before a grand jury. She was found in contempt, did her three months and was released to pursue gigs with Fox News and a neo-con think tank. She is a criminal and a clown of a journalist.
No wonder Hudson, half-a-journalist himself, holds her in such high regard.
Judith Miller is an embarassment to journalism. But that’s besides the point. Before the election, Obama supported a federal shield law that would offer protection to legitimate journalists compelled to testify. Here’s a quick and dirty Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Flow_of_Information_Act
However, after being elected, the President has backtracked, supporting changes to the bill that weaken the protections. I haven’t read the whole bill yet, so I can’t discuss it appropriately. But the benefits of confidentiality afforded journalists are worth protecting. Without assurances of confidentiality, many folk would refuse to talk to the media, and much ot the genuine investigative reporting we read about in history books will never happen again.
@ Mike Hudson – “…in order to prove some guy you don’t even know is wrong about a minor point…you’re pathetic
Who’s pathetic again? The half-drunk pseudo-journalist who comes on this blog and spews utter bullshit in a pathetic attempt to debate and/or show off his political knowledge (or lack thereof) or the commentors who call him when he tries to pass his bullshit off? If you’re truly tired of commentors calling you out on “minor points”, you would do well to put down the tumbler and stop posting bullshit.
You are completely full of shit, Hudson, and anyone reading your comments and giving even a thought to taking them seriously would do themselves a favor by reading Chris’ elegant take-down of you from earlier this year.
@mikehudson – I remember clearly comments like “his (Obama’s) win is predicted by the same group that supported jonny powers”…etc. You clearly taunted us. I tried the search function and it booted me. I don’t really care enough to spend any more time on it. But it was repeated. Maybe it was becuase we were pissing you off….a shock, I know…..but it was you, and it was repeated. Ask my friend Wizard.
@ Everyone: Chicago isn’t “real America” anyway.

Mike Hudson says:
“1. getting gov. paterson to announce he wasn’t running for gov.
2. getting a health care bill passed before congress took it’s summer break.
3. getting a climate change law passed this year.
4. closing the concentration camp at guantanamo this year.

That is too too funny. Are you really serious with this? Really? He was not even in charge of the Olympic bid he just gave a speech! even if these could be described as failures how do these stack up against truly legit failures on a massive scale in the Bush presidency. Ipod to the Queen? – My God these are meant as a joke right?
Give me your real list of Obama failures.
@Hudson – another stellar job by your hero Tim Howard. Dickless ? That’s really funny, but I can assure you that I in fact have a dick. I would love to get in a clever flamefest with you but its a bit late. Pussy.
thank you gentlemen, i believe the weekend, by any definition, is over.
Before this latest humiliation began, Dave Staba said: ”I do enjoy it when you attempt to defend your careless use of facts by attacking the commenter who brings it up, then claim the validity of your point does not depend on the veracity of the information you use to support it.
And Hudson then proceeds to reenact that exact scenario.
Whether or not wnymedia.net said the mayoral primary was going to be close is a minor point, as you say – a minor point WHICH YOU BROUGHT UP, when you thought it showed wnymedia’s lack of credibility. Now that it turns out that they never said what you alleged – let alone said it “repeatedly” – so that it shows (once again) your complete lack of credibility – suddenly it’s a stupid point and anyone who talks about it is pathetic.
Exactly as Staba said.
He did more than “give a speech” In his own words, he “Made a Crusade”. And he didn’t get shit. For all of his “America is bad”, “America WAS Bad until I took Office”, and his and his wife’s shameful pathological narcissim, he got left by the IOC with his dick in his hand, BIG carbon footprints from Air Force One and then the Wife’s 757 carriying her and Oprahs fat ass over there to show the “Power of the Obama Personality”, and nothing else.
He went there to get the Olympics—The IOC told him and his entourage to go get fucked. —how would that be a victory, exactly?
Oh @Hank – Get over yourself. Certainly Obama has had failures and will have more. Certainly so did Bush, Clinton, Bush and **GASP*** even the Father of Deficit Spending (I mean Conservatism) The Olympics isn’t even on the radar as far as large ones. he made a pitch, as did many other world leaders who went home disappointed. A month from now most people won’t remember and less still will care about it. There are bigger issues. I think it was good that he made an effort. Didn’t work out…BFD. It isn’t a strategic nightmare. It isn’t indicative of his whole Presidency. It isn’t important in the scheme of things…….except to the Obama Haters who are small minded simpletons who wouldn’t be happy no matter what Obama did. Welcome to the club, Hank.
Well, You can take AirForce one to Europe to join the president of Brazil, the Premier of Spain and King of Spain, each pushing for their respective countries to get the Olympics, or you can take Air Force one 33 times in six months to Crawford Texas to cut underbrush. I guess its a choice.
That was just Bush’s way to reduce the size of government.
@Freida: nice that conveniently leave out Obama’s date nights that cost upwards of 250k a date. But I forgot, that’s ok because he’s a democrat….
@Steve- Considering how the last Democratic president was impeached, I’d say the date nights are saving the tax payers the cost of a special prosecutor.
There’s so many legitimate reasons to hate Obama and conservatives can’t get past lobbying for the Olympics and trying to get laid by a woman he’s actually married to.
There’s a very good reason to hate America. It’s political discourse is established by retards.
@steveinDC – apparently you’d prefer the President pursue a diaper fetish with various hookers like one of those good ol-fashioned “family values” conservative Republicans.
And….”$250k a date”? You have any verification of that? Because, last time I checked, the POTUS draws a salary and taking his wife out to dinner is on his dime.
way to call ’em splett…
@SteveinDC , actually Obama took a Learjet to NYC and paid for his and his wifes fare out of his own pocket. (not 33 trips on AF1) But nice try, and thanks for playing.
