Wednesday November 4th

29 Oct

Here’s a scenario:

It’s Wednesday November 4th. Bill Owens has very narrowly won a seat in Congress from NY-23.  Dede Scozzafava, the endorsed Republican candidate finished a distant third.  All the smart #TCOT kids wearing Banana Republic have left town with their Blackberries and laptops no longer taxing the local coffee shops or Verizon towers.

Now what?

Are they going to stick around NY-23 and help #rebuild the party apparatus there?  Are they going to run to become local committeemen, eschewing their small apartment in NW for a ranch on a rural road with propane heat and a septic tank?

No.  The Republican voters of NY-23 will wonder how the hell they blew a pretty safe seat, and probably be pretty pissed off that all these tools came in from out of town to fuck it all up.

Pundit once again taking a cue from the esteemed Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, who called Scozzafava “actually the most liberal candidate in the race”, and said, “It’s official, I’m rooting for the Republican to win.”

The complaint that the Republicans are self-destructing by opposing the machine candidate and supporting another, more traditional Republican running on the Conservative line, is most disingenuous. Always appreciate the helpful advice, BP, but we prefer to run our own party. Go have a love fest for Olympia Snowe.

Markos was quite amused by the right’s use of his “endorsement”, so he wrote:

But I’m rather pleased I’ve been used to attack Scozzafava by the likes of Club for Growth and Glenn Beck. Such mischief is almost Rovian! So in that vein, I’m ready to make some new endorsements. I endorse Mark Kirk in Illinois, Rob Simmons in Connecticut, and Charlie Crist in Florida. In fact, if you are the type of Republican than can actually win against Democratic opposition (in other words, not batshit insane), I “endorse” you. Oh, and I also “endorse” David Vitter, even though he is batshit insane, because he’s hilarious.

Just think of it as returning the favor for years of Republican concern-trolling over Democrats tilting to the left and killing their electoral chances in 2006 and 2008. For example, the hue and cry over Joe Lieberman turning sore loser after the voters of Connecticut rejected his war cheerleading in the 2006 Democratic primary.

It looks like the voters of NY-23 will elect a Teabagger who is less than up to date on current issues in the district. Bully for them. And, for the record, Kos isn’t endorsing anyone in NY-23.

Ah, Humanist — very Kerry-esque of Kos.
He endorsed her before he didn’t endorse her?

As J J Kale wrote (almost)
If you’re down on the farm, and ya wanna stay warm, PROPANE!

JJ Kale? Did he play with Townes Van Cabbage? David Allen Cauliflower? Clarence “Gatemouth” Broccoli?
