Palin on Mubarak

8 Feb

I caught the following quote in this article about Larry Quinn quitting the Sabres, ECHDC, and Buffalo in general:

Larry Quinn is the Hosni Mubarak of planning in Buffalo, going back to his early days in the Griffin administration and extending through the Bass Pro fiasco that set back waterfront development by at least six years,” said preservationist Tim Tielman, executive director of Campaign for Greater Buffalo. “Through it all, he has demonstrated an autocratic attitude that repeatedly went against the desires of the public and sound public policy.”

Mubarak? Who the hell does Tim Tielman think he is?  Does he think that he doesn’t demonstrate an autocratic attitude, or that he always works in concert with the public’s desires or sound public policy?  Who died and made him king of Buffalo development?  It’s the most self-important, arrogant, and – with the Mubarak reference – childishly offensive piece of mouth-shit I’ve yet seen come from the Sarah Palin of Buffalo development.  Shame on him.

I don’t care what name people attach to him as an attempted insult, I just want him gone. To me he’s just another name that constantly pops up when discussing local failures. On the hockey side of things, the sooner Quinn, Golisano and Regier are out the better we will be.

Yeah, a little over the top. But Alan, so is your response. Hyperbole isnt helpful; but its not new either.

As you may have gathered, my response is in exact proportion to Tielman’s offensive likening of Larry Quinn to a mideast dictatorial despot. That the preservationist community hasn’t yet completely shunned this guy is disgraceful.

I feel much better this morning knowing that Alan set out from his village on his decrepit horse to rail against the evil Tim Tielman. Don Quixote lives!!

Once in a while Mike is spot on.

Tielman. Quinn. I’m sick of them both and all the others who seem to lead us on this infinite merry-go-round of no progress. If you ran a poll that asked people what holds this community back, you would get an hundred answers. Mine would be that we have the same jackasses having the fame fights over and over again. Who the hell thought Larry Quinn was qualified to lead waterfront development and who appointed Tim Tielman chief obstructor? The notion of change for change sake applies here. At least Larry appears ready to exit stage right and do something else with his life….Tielman will be a pain in the ass until the last person turns out the lights on WNY.
