Does being on strike automatically mean that you have to make angry faces all the time?

Just a clarification: the CWA *and* IBEW both represent the striking workers.

@Carlucci – I would have them laugh and appear to be enjoying themselves if I was the union’s strategist. I want Verizon to think they are having such a great time that there is no way they are returning to work anytime soon!

It’s always a great day when the rat makes an appearance! I think they rent it from the bounce house dude.

    Who are the speakers?
I know Higgins, Kennedy and Poloncarz, who are the rest?

    I love that rat.

@Greg: Maria Whyte, Lynn Marinelli, some short guy, and a dude who needs to get to the gym.

The Public Service Commission and associated regulations need an overhaul. Verizon is allowed to create network ghettos in the city and in rural areas, Time Warner refuses to sign franchise agreements, broadband internet and cell service (cell towers and associated services) aren’t really regulated at all. Time for a change.

Did Poloncarz feel slimy after standing with Higgins and Kennedy? Or, is he used to it?

Ah, but Slim, everything got deregulated during and after the reign of Reagan the Stupid. You know, the markets knows best.

Musta missed the part where the striker shoved his daughter out to block an entering pickup truck.

Oh, that’s right, different picket line. They must have needed something else to draw attention since the WNY Dem hackerama wasn’t visiting them.

People should know that Verizon earned over $32.5 billion in the last 3 years and that Verizon not only paid nothing in corporate income taxes, it actually received nearly $1 billion in tax benefits from the federal government during that time. Why can’t they pay their workers? People call unions greedy, but Verizon is awash with profit. The only way to pull money back from the top tier is taxes and union pressure. Otherwise we’ll all be making wages on par with the Chinese.
