The Somnolent Columnist

12 Sep

1. Lazy columnist gets call from Steve Pigeon.

2. Lazy columnist transcribes the brain-excreta from disgraced former Erie County Democratic Committee chairman and political advisor to indictee Pedro Espada.

3. Lazy columnist assists disgraced former political figure to make Sunday headline, fill empty column space, and to re-inject himself where he’s not wanted.

4. Completely ignore the irony of a former chairman, who left the party in financial and electoral disarray a decade ago, complaining about “disarray” today.

5. Uncritically transcribe everything.

6. Profit.

And needless to say, the lazy columnist fails to note that what the former Chair is asking for cannot be done due to redistricting in the City of Buffalo, making it impossible to assign weighted votes to district committeeman in Barbara Miller Williams Dist which is surely what this is about along with his desire to become a viable candidate to return as Chair of ECDC

A Dem hack columnist in a Dem hack town. Sounds to me like a perfect fit.

The NEWS had packages for a number of good reporters and columnists and left McCarthy to talk to his old CRONIES instead of actually doing some investigating or simply reporting. Pigeon may be interferring in WNY politics, but simply relaying his phone call to you is not worth it. Chairmen to be successful need elected officials with patronage jobs to give to “workers” who get people elected. The patronage at City Hall is Brown’s choice. The patronage at County Hall is Collin’s choice. So the vote for best Democratic Chair goes to neither of the last two.

@Gayle: Simple solution: Just include boundaryline split ED committeemen in both conventions for the new legislative districts. Problem solved, order complied with. Or else one could go back to Skrteny with a motion to settle his order.
You and Dennis Ward need to stop being so down on yourselves. Just keep saying “Yes We Can”.

@Alan: Problem I have with Pigeon letter is that, if you ignore all the interpersonal noise and clutter, he is right. The district committeemen should be nominating. Unfortunately he got the right answer for the wrong reason. Nominating county legislators has nothing to do with the party rules. I would give Steve a B- grade on this one.
