Weiss Defeated

14 Sep

Clarence Town Councilman Joseph “Masses are Asses” Weiss was voted out of office last night, earning just 23% of the votes in the Republican “pick 2 out of 3” councilman primary, and 34% of the vote in the Independence Party primary. He’s gone for three reasons. Firstly, he made an enemy of a man as wealthy as he is, who was happy to spend his money to let people know all about it. Secondly, his awful and intimidating personality and style alienated a lot of people over the past 8 years he’s been on the board. Thirdly, he made enemies of the volunteer fire departments and the volunteers who work there. Bad move, as they’re the backbone of the community, know everyone, and aren’t afraid to get politically active when attacked. Fourthly, my work here was picked up by the Bee and made it onto lit that was forwarded to hundreds of Clarence households.

Weiss’ hand-picked supervisor candidate will mount a formidable challenge in November, and I have no doubt that a defeated Weiss will be out for revenge. I know many of you don’t care about what happens in Clarence politics, (and I fully understand), but it’s a community that’s wealthy, has few real problems, is fiscally stable, has good schools, low taxes, yet a political climate that’s suddenly become ruthlessly ugly and is in the midst of an epic WNY battle between sprawl growth and maintenance of its rural character.

At least we’re not Amherst.

Clarence voters tired of bullying, bad actors in government — and willing to vote change. Good for them! I like how that bodes.

I don’t live in Clarence, but I think this matters. And countywide candidates would do well to take note.

Great day for Clarence!!!! CONGRATS to all who made this happen!!!!!! Clarence residents have spoken – JOE WEISS has finally gotten what he deserves – BOOTED from the Town Board!!!! Congrats to both Gieger and Kolber – who are people who have integrity and are For The People of Clarence!!!! Enjoy it guys!!!!

Democrats lose Weener seat in NY-9–stunning upset seen as rebuke for Obama policies.

(Presented here as a public service in the absence of any mention of this by Buffalo Pundit)

    • Alan Bedenko September 14, 2011 at 8:59 am #

The only reason, Ward, that your comment wasn’t deleted as off-topic is because you’re my friend. With that said, if NY-9 is a “rebuke” for Obama policies in a D +5 district, then I’m happy you’ve finally acknowledged that Hochul’s win in NY-26, a R +6 district, resulted from that district’s firm approval of Obama’s policies.

  5. Rob September 14, 2011 at 8:04 am #

I don’t care about Clarence politics, but it’s still schadenfreudelicious that this clown lost.

  6. john September 14, 2011 at 9:02 am #

@Ward- why would BP mention the NY-9 results in an article about the Clarence primary?
This back and forth I win/you lose crap is childish.

Weiss is a bitter vengeful individual. He will not walk away quietly. The next several months of Board meetings with this lameduck will give him a pulpit to spew his venom towards the masses. His hand picked and annointed (personally by him) candidate for Supervisor will sling mud in a desperate attempt to follow in Joe’s footseps. If this primary has shown anything it is the the masses do not like persons who want pay for play or act like a circus sideshow – entertaining for a laugh or two can be fun but the audience soon finds out there is no depth to the individual. Just like Weiss, Hartzell must too be rejected because he too is BAD for Clarence.

  8. MaGuinn September 14, 2011 at 10:10 am #

Being a resident – I would love to go to tonight’s Town Meeting and also the last meeting of the year – December 21st @ 730 pm. Weiss is extremely bitter and spews his venom all the time – not only at board meetings but also to people who live in the town and who he use to work for. Let’s just hope he keeps his mouth in check for the next couple months.
Maybe now that he has been fired he should join Pilates or Yoga!!!!! He can go with the woman he insulted via an email not to long ago!!

I wish this post didn’t end with a petty dig at a neighboring locality.

  10. Ward September 14, 2011 at 10:17 am #

Thank you for your kind indulgence, Alan.

From my point of view, if Hochul’s “Mediscare” success over Corwin was viewed in these precincts as an endorsement of Obama and his policies, then the loss of a 78-year safe Democratic seat downstate–in a campaign in which the GOP candidate ran against Obama and the Dem candidate treated Obama like he’d just farted in the elevator–might be viewed as quite the opposite.

Since we hadn’t enjoyed the opportunity of discussing that in this venue (and likely won’t, eh?) I took the liberty.

In the meantime, congratulations on your stunning victory in–where was it?–oh yes, Clarence. I’ll look for it on the network news tonight, just before the story on NY-9.

    • Christopher Smith September 14, 2011 at 11:30 am #

Lets simplify this for Ward and the people in Sloan.

NY-26: Republican Chris Lee does something egregiously stupid as a politician and resigns, embarrassing himself and sullying the party reputation in the district. Republicans nominate half-assed candidate with no retail skills and surround her with an incompetent campaign team. Spunky Democrat with key endorsements, a defined platform, a quality issue in Medicare and a quality ground operations team rally to an upset victory.

NY-9: Democrat Anthony Weiner does something egregiously stupid as a politician and resigns, embarrassing himself and sullying the party reputation in the district. Democrats nominate half-assed candidate who took his base for granted, ran an aimless campaign and surrounded himself with a weak campaign team. Spunky well-funded Republican with key endorsements, a defined platform, a quality ground operations team and a hard-on for Israel in an Orthodox Jew district rallies to an upset victory.

Every election is different with different influences, constituencies, issues of import, etc. To constantly construct a horse-race narrative out of this is something that beltway pundits spend a lot of time doing. It’s pointless.

Correction it was a 93 year safe seat for democrats. Personally I am happy to see that bad people whether their name is Weiss, Lee, Wiener or whatever get turned out.

If we start rewarding the best candidate and punish the scum, instead of the candidate that has your favorite letter after their name we will get a better government. Weiss, Lee and Wiener proved this, maybe their is hope and change after all.

You also neglected to mention that Turner frankly ran right straight against Obammy, who was asked by the local Dems to please stay away.
Any thoughts on the special election in Nevada?

    Updated: September 15, 2011, 12:53 PM

Clarence Town Councilman Joseph N. Weiss, the target of an aggressive campaign to defeat him at the polls, has notified town officials he will resign from office later this month.

“The volunteer firemen have spoken,” Weiss said in an email. “I am resigning my council position effective Sept. 28.”

Weiss, who is in his second term on the Clarence Town Board, finished third in the Republican and Conservative primaries Tuesday, denying him two those party lines on the Nov. 8 general election ballot. Two council seats are up for election. Weiss also finished second in the Independence Party primary.

Weiss, a Republican, was the target of a high-profile “Weiss Must Go” campaign supported by local businessman Daniel P. Snyder, consisting of ads in the Clarence Bee, a website, lawn signs, and materials delivered to homes.

Weiss is known for his blunt approach, and has been critical of Supervisor Scott A. Bylewski. That same direct style has also made him a controversial figure in Clarence politics.

Bylewski said the board members will decide whether to leave Weiss’ seat vacant for the remainder of the year or make an interim appointment. Weiss’ resignation takes effect the date of the next scheduled town board meeting.

Weiss and Snyder had clashed over a permit for a Fourth of July fireworks permit on Snyder’s Newhouse Road property. Weiss had also called for controlling town spending on firefighting services, and accused some volunteer firefighters of stealing his campaign signs.

Kelly: A little linguistic update–“Obammy” is the diminutive form of Obama, and signifies how Little Barry’s presidency has shrunk along with his political persona.

King Kong: That post probably ended your chances at a run for Governor, eh?

Bbbbbilll: I think you have me confused with Al Gore.

And, finally, Chris: James Carville said pretty much what I said–you can check today’s NY Post for the exact quote. Including the reference to Nevada.

  25. King Kong September 16, 2011 at 12:55 am #

Polling Guru Ward – I do not meet the legal requirements to run for Governor, but nice try. I am saying inflammatory things in response to you saying inflammatory things. It’s a new trick, I call it the ‘Ward Mirror’, it involves showing you what you look like when you say outrageous things.

  26. Bbill September 16, 2011 at 7:44 am #

    ‘Ward Mirror’

    He’s Marmalard AND Neidermeyer!

  27. Dave Staba September 16, 2011 at 9:42 am #

Interesting, Ward. Even if it’s been in use among oh-so-clever linguists like yourself since the earliest, pre-shrinkage days of Obama’s presidency, if not before. Some might think ‘Obammy’ to be remarkably similar to ‘Mammy,’ as sung by a black-faced Al Jolson in ‘The Jazz Singer’ and, more famously, a Warner Brothers cartoon. Just as some might think ‘Washerwoman,’ when used in reference to a powerful, successful female, to be an example of impotent misogyny. But I’m sure you have an explanation for that which you think makes you seem like less of a dick. Speaking of which, it’s great to see you get the opportunity to indulge your obsession with the former representative of NY-9.

/cue Ward to bemoan excessive liberal sensitivity regarding racism and sexism, which is, of course, far, far worse than actual racism and sexism.

  28. Eric Saldanha September 16, 2011 at 1:20 pm #

Thigh-rubbing pigs like Ward believe the Internet is just one big audition room for them to get on Fox News’ Red Eye or, better yet, the Rush Limbaugh Show. Thus, “kneeslappers” like Obammy and Washerwoman for Obama and Wasserman, respectively. He is aspiring, after all, to the comic level of an bloated, thrice divorced pill addict and pedophile sex tourist who thought it the height of hilarity to call the former Senator from South Dakota “Puff Daschle”.

To steal a line from Seth Meyers – free conservative humor? That’s too true to be good!

  29. Bbill September 16, 2011 at 1:31 pm #

Ward, if you truly are aspiring to Limbaugh level of humor, are you rising or stooping? tia.

  30. King Kong September 17, 2011 at 9:17 am #

Anyone else think that Ward makes inflammatory remarks such as the above because when he was just a little douchebag his Mommy would spank him when he said outrageous shit and he liked it a little too much?

  33. Joe September 18, 2011 at 8:16 am #

The “Volunteer” fire departments in this town ARE out of control. Joe Weiss wanted them to account for their spending and justify it. Anything wrong with that? Hardly “volunteer” since they get a pension. Multi-million dollar fire stations for 3 fires per year. They turn into the poor mans country club. Why should the chief of Harris Hill be allowed to drive his official vehicle to work in Tonawanda everyday? Why should the East Amherst chief with his official vehicle be able to tow his jet ski to Ilse View park. Wake up folks they are taking advantage of what they do. Its the entitlement mentality. They need to accept that they signed up to volunteer and that’s what they do. They constantly piss the money away. The real bullies here are the firemen. One man asks them to be accountable and to be more efficient and a viscous backlash occurs. God for bid THEY get questioned. THEY know what’s best.

Another thing that your blog fails to mention ironically is that a neighbor of Dan Snyder who has a farm, expressed concern that the fireworks will scare their animals. Clarence is a right to farm community… Right???

    • Alan Bedenko September 18, 2011 at 8:27 am #

Based on your listed email address of “fuckyoualanbedenkoyouliberalpos@screwoff.com”, I’m going to operate under the assumption that “Joe” is “Joe Weiss” and referring to himself imperiously in the third person.

So, no. Fuck you, Joe. You lose. The community appreciates the work that the fire departments do – so what if the chief drives his FD car to Tonawanda. Oh, heavens that 15 mile round trip will bankrupt the town!

Your days of treating the town citizenry like shit are over.

  34. Peggy September 18, 2011 at 9:27 am #

Fire Chief’s drive their official cars to cut down on response time and yes they work all over the place and yes they do have leisure time that they drop at the moment they receive the call. Unlike Joe Weiss they head towards an emergency or disaster not towards the finest hotel to wait for an all clear from those who actually risk their health and lives volunteeing for their community. Volunteer fire pensions are a nice fringe to give someone after they have spent a good deal of their “spare time” responding to accidents and structure fires. The pensions are not all that much money. Joe makes it sound like they are going to be able to live high off the hog when in reality the pension together with social security would still leave a family of four nearer to the poverty level. Must be nice to be a millionaire Joe most of us common folk will never reach your level of wealth or disdain for the regular guy or gal.

  35. MaGuinn September 18, 2011 at 10:06 am #

“Joe” seems to forget that the VOLUNTEER fireman don’t get paid for VOLUNTEERING their time.  “Joe” was receiving a $23k salary for doing his part of becoming a megalomaniac @ the residents expense.  “Joe” is upset that the PEOPLE OF CLARENCE voted him out – the people who paid his salary have spoken.  Maybe “Joe” is mad because he LOST his pension when the people voted him out!!!!  It is time”Joe” goes away and focuses on other things – after all he said “he is not a career politician”.  DING DONG THE WITCH IS GONE!!!

  36. Bbill September 18, 2011 at 11:25 am #

Teabaggers have already voiced their opposition to American jobs, roads and bridges, and their endorsement of more bacteria, salmonella and e.coli in our food; it stands to reason they’d also be in favor of more house fires.

  37. Joe September 18, 2011 at 9:01 pm #

no honestly i am not joe weiss. just share his name and ideals.

  38. Joe September 18, 2011 at 9:11 pm #

That is such typical liberal fashion to assume something in order to continue to railroad people who want actual efficiency in our government. His name is Joe… It MUST be Joe Weiss cause there is only one Joe in the world. And everyone on here follows like sheep.

No response on here to the fact that there was a citizens objection to Dan Synders permit request??? Looks like Maybe Joe Weiss does look out for people of the town just not the scumbag government tit suckers.

    • Alan Bedenko September 18, 2011 at 9:13 pm #

That citizen’s objection must explain why Weiss voted in favor of Snyder’s fireworks permit request in 2010.

You’re an amateur asshole wingnut Weiss-licker. Move along, now.

  39. King Kong September 18, 2011 at 9:26 pm #

Looks like “Joe” is another one who accuses people of not abiding by ‘facts’ when they do present their case with indisputable facts , and yet presents no ‘facts’ of their own, only right-wing platitudes. Seeing as the facts have been made, so let me offer my opinion, rather than call it a fact like “Joe” does. Joe Weiss, not his minion on here that has his head permanently glued up his ass, seems to have a deep loathing for firefighters. I’ve had this argument with people, all of them teabaggers on the far right, who have a problem with police departments and always cry that they should be cut back on due to vague claims of ‘waste’. These people generally deeply jealous of the positive attention that firefighters and police officers receive because they do things like run into burning buildings and get shot at by criminals. They have a terrible case of egomania combined with feelings of total inadequacy in the face of their heroism. Instead of recognizing that inadequacy and turning it into a feeling of respect, like reasonable people do, they seek to tear them down to make them feel better about themselves. It’s part of the narcissism that exists on the right today, that anyone who does anything heroic on a local level is just another sap-sucking waste, and it’s a shame, because those firemen do and will do things far more heroic than any jackass like Joe Weiss will ever do.

  40. Joe September 19, 2011 at 8:34 am #

Maybe there was no objection in 2010 Alan, and I don’t have time to check the minutes to see if that’s true but there you go ASSuming again.

Neither Joe Weiss or I have a “Great Loathing” for firemen like you assume. I was a volunteer fireman in the town. I saw what goes on from the inside out and it disgusted me. Frivolous spending and they cry for whatever they want and if they don’t get it they will ram down anyone who opposes, cause you never mess with public safety… ever. The worst is when they send out the fund raising letter saying how hard it is to even make ends meet even though they have got close to a million in the bank. Booo hooo.

As far as cops go… There are more deaths and injuries to cops crashing there cars than actully fighting crime. Probably because they are on the cell phone or laptop driving like monkeys. $120,000 / year to be a Trooper!!!!??? In Clarence, NY???? Their all at Pizza Inn. Wake up folks we are being taken advantage of. Want to know why they write tickets on the 290? Because the people they pull over going to work won’t shoot them. Fighting CRIME is dangerous not pulling people over. Being a coal miner is a hell of a lot more dangerous and they don’t come close to $120,000.

Hey Alan, the Fed is 14 Trillion in debt. How many of these fire companies get 6 figure federal grants a year? Lets just keep giving them more money. 94 companies to protect Erie County. 800 for the entire state of Texas. You don’t get it and you never will.. that’s OK. Your a lawyer, the cause and solution to all of our problems.

  41. King Kong September 19, 2011 at 12:09 pm #

Joe – Your inflammatory remarks must be caused because your bowels are inflamed? Perhaps your testicles? Nah, you won’t actually argue a point, just try to out-troll people, so you apparently have no testicles. You’re a teabagger, the cause to all of our problems.

  42. Rob September 19, 2011 at 1:21 pm #

I am not Alan, either. Alan and several other people who write for WNYMedia and commenters are aware of my identity. I am also a fan of Byron Brown and Steve Pigeon, two people Alan takes a non-liking too.

  44. Joe September 19, 2011 at 1:58 pm #

    Kong,

I’m not on here to rub in the Tea Party mentality. In fact I have no affiliation with them at all. The way I see it Democraps and Republicants suck alike.

THE POINT THAT I AM ARGUING HERE IS THAT A COUNCILMAN ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE ASKED THE FIRE COMPANIES TO ACCOUNT FOR THEIR SPENDING AND BE MORE EFFICIENT. AS A RESULT OF HIM DOING THIS, HE WAS ABSOLUTELY RAILROADED OUT BY INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE THREATENED BY THE TRUTH. THE TRUTH BEING THAT THEY CAN RUN MORE EFFICIENTLY. ( I have bold this so that no one will miss it this time.)

So the question I pose to all of you is:

What is wrong with a councilman asking the fire companies to become more efficient at what they do? Is efficiency a bad thing?

    • Alan Bedenko September 19, 2011 at 2:17 pm #

Joe: No one begrudges anyone the right to suggest that anything can be done more efficiently. The problem became Joe’s loud, obnoxious, hateful, berating, insolent mouth, and how he pissed off everyone with whom he came in contact. Part of being in politics is respecting and listening to one’s constituents. Weiss apparently loved the trappings of prestige and power that came with being on the board, and was comfortable “protecting” the abstract notion of the “taxpayer”, but was loath to actually deal with the “masses”, whom he described as “asses”.

  45. King Kong September 20, 2011 at 12:29 am #

Shorter Joe: I AM GOING TO SHOUT THIS OVER THE INTERWEBZ BECAUSE NO ONE AGREED WITH MY ARGUMENT THE FIRST TIME AND I MUST BE RIGHT BECAUSE IM ME DONT YOU UNDERSTAND YOU MUST NOT BE LISTENING MY KINDERGARTEN TEACHER TOLD ME IM SPECIAL!!!

  46. Joe September 20, 2011 at 7:51 pm #

    Ok Kong,

What fire company/ police agency do you work for?

    What makes your side right?

  47. King Kong September 20, 2011 at 8:33 pm #

    Joe,

I am not a cop or a firefighter, I just do not have the loathing for anyone who works for the government (or themselves if they do) that teabaggers do. I stand by assessment that Joe “Masses Are Asses” Weiss is an ass himself. I love that you make assumptions about people who defend cops and firefighters that they must be on the public dime, unlike Joe “Masses Are Asses” Weiss, I am not in any capacity. He got blown out because he degraded his constituents as ‘asses’ without much of a reason for doing so, except being called out for trying to persecute the people who run into burning buildings and save lives.

Unlike you, I am not a douchebag who feels the needs to shout at people on an online forum because they simply disagree with you, as if disagreeing is some personal insult and that we all must be wrong because you say we are. Did all of you teabaggers have doting relatives that told you could all do no wrong? You are not special.

  48. Joe September 20, 2011 at 11:20 pm #

Take a look around. Do you see the condition we are in (WNY especially)? Not a good one and I hope we can all agree on that. I hope cause if not I give up. How do you think it got this way? Buffalo used to be one of the largest cities in the country. Now it is one of the largest shit holes of the country. Do you think that doing things the same way since the demise is going to make things better? Now, I am not talking about the ideals of Democrats or Republicans but rather individual concepts that destroy our society. Examples: Corporate welfare, social welfare, extensive compensation for public employees just to name a few. It all has to change because continuing to do something but expecting a different result is insanity. Don’t bring politics into it.

  49. fireman x September 22, 2011 at 6:54 pm #

Joe, you’re full of shit as usual. Your axe to grind is a long term, deep seated hatred for fireman in general. Did you miss the free candy at the last parade when you were a child or something, because you have shown that you can’t play well with others? You spout off at the lips of the fire companies taking it to the taxpayer, well then you should have also posted that they have held the line on their budgets at 0% for the last 3 years. Oh but you never seem to mention that….Or the fact that all of the VOLUNTEER fireman in the town are TAXPAYERS…Do you think they want to pay any more that they need to in taxes in general….Thank god the taxpayers saw thru your bullshit and voted your sorry ass out, the town WILL live without you and your rein of terror….X

  50. Joe September 22, 2011 at 11:19 pm #

0% for 3 years.. Wow what a shame must be hard to do WHEN YOUR BUDGETS ARE CLOSING IN ON A MILLION DOLLARS. How will you do it? Looks like you are going to have to get another year out of Car 9 even though its only 2 years old. Better go with the Envoy. It’s got heated leather seats and a Bose surround sound system. Sunroof Too.

How am I not playing nice? It’s the firemen who cry like babies ANY time they are asked to take a hit even in the times we are in currently. And No Fireman X you are wrong. Not all volunteer firemen are taxpayers in the town. Many companies have members that live out of district and even in other towns.

PS. I’m not Joe Weiss you dumbass, learn how to read. Better yet lay off the beer I paid for.

  51. fireman x September 24, 2011 at 11:21 am #

Weiss Lover: First off, there are budget figures posted on the town website that actually reflect the PROPER amount of tax monies the fire departments receive. The fire departments have NO CONTROL over the hydrant fee’s the water authority imposes on them and it get dumped right on top of the budgets that would make people like you think otherwise. As far as the chief’s vehicles, so as long as the officers are responding to alarms before and after they are out of work, who really cares. You claim you were a firefighter once upon a time, you should then remember that calls come in at all times of the day and night, it’s the nature of the business. Oh ya, and before I forget, I don’t drink, but if a firefighter chooses to have an adult beverage after training or an alarm,  that’s still a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things. You may not like the players, but don’t hate the game…Who are you going to call when people like you aggravate the volunteers to a point when it’s just not worth it anymore????? Then you will see your taxes go up Mr. Know it all!!!!

  52. Joe September 25, 2011 at 10:50 pm #

The TOWN pays $407,500+ to the ECWA. It’s a separate line item on the budget and is payed directly by the town.

I’ll even go a step further. Lets suppose it does work your way. That works out to around $81,500 per company. I realize that some districts have more hydrants than others and do not share the shame cost, but it gives us a base to work with. How do you even justify $81,500 from a $775,000 budget. That’s still $693,000 and its still out of line.

I will also add this bit for you idiots who think that Weiss HATES Snyder cause hes a fireman.

    Town board minutes from 6/23/2010.

Dan Snyder requests a Fireworks Display Permit for July 4, 2010 at 5655 Newhouse Road. James Callahan said the location is the northeast corner of Newhouse and Roll Roads. All fees and insurance are in order. The Fire Chief has identified required conditions for the issuance of a permit. The Right-to-Farm Committed has identified significant concerns related to the impact on neighboring horses and has recommended denying the application. A petition from the neighbors requesting the denial of the permit has been received.
Dave Saleh, attorney and vice president of Mr. Snyder’s company said Mr. Snyder purchased the property on Newhouse Road and made a significant investment. He has turned it into his home and family estate. He hosts the 4th of July party for his family and employees. The property can accommodate the event. The Penal Law states that if you are going to have a fireworks display and can meet certain setback requirements, you are entitled to a permit. These are consumer fireworks and you can see them going on all over the area from the property.
Councilman Weiss said this is not a normal activity. The Town issues very few of these permits.
Mr. Saleh said there are two other requests on the agenda. Mr. Snyder said we will do this legally and it meets every requirement. The law says an application can be made to the Town if you meet the setbacks.
Councilman Weiss said there is the petition opposing the permit and the recommendation from the Right-to-Farm Committee.
Mr. Saleh said in his conversation with Mr. Mobius, he also suggested that Ms. Landreville consider moving her horses and offered to allow them to come to his farm.
Mr. Snyder made the offer to pay to relocate the horses during the display. Mr. Casilio offered his barn down the road. Mr. Saleh said it was not accepted. In regard to right-to-farm, Ms. Landreville has a small parcel with two horses shoehorned in there with no real opportunity to move around. We already have problems with improper fencing and piles of manure that create odors and insect infestation. It affects the family when they are sitting out by the pool. Mr. Snyder has tried very hard to work with the neighbor. This is not a right-to-farm issue. This is not an agricultural district. This property does not meet the definition of a farm. He does not believe this is about the horses.
Mr. Saleh said the consumer fireworks used do not impact the horses or people.
Councilman Kolber asked what the difference is between consumer fireworks and commercial fireworks. Mr. Saleh said there are different classes according to the amount of gunpowder and explosive hazard. Consumer fireworks will more likely burn than explode. It is a well done reasonable display. This should not be a decision based on who screams the loudest.
Councilman Weiss said she should not have to move her horses.
Mr. Saleh said they have tried to prove that the concerns are not legitimate. They met all the obligations and the Board should approve it.
Councilman Kolber suggested that they move the display to the building that Mr. Snyder recently purchased on Gunnville and Wehrle. Mr. Saleh said he does not think they could meet the setbacks and it would be difficult to try at this point in time.
Councilman Kolber asked if Mr. Snyder lives on the property. Mr. Saleh said he is finishing it up and will be moving there in a few months. Councilman Kolber said we have a petition and a letter from a vet. Aside from a country club and the Town display, he can only think of one individual resident that ever applied for a permit. There were no complaints from the neighbors in that area.
Mr. Saleh said the vet has never seen the display and from what he can gather the horses were never treated for anything as a result.

Councilman DiCostanzo said there should be a compromise worked out. The horses can be moved. Ms. Landreville said her horses have never been moved.
Councilman Weiss said she does not have to compromise. He will vote for the people in the neighborhood.
Town Attorney Steven Bengart said he disagrees with Mr. Saleh and believes that the right-to-farm law applies.
Motion by Councilman Weiss, seconded by Councilman Kolber to deny the request for a Fireworks Display Permit for July 4, 2010 at 5655 Newhouse Road. On the question, Councilman Weiss said the decision is based on all the comments made, the petition with 33 signatures opposed, the fire chief documentation and the right-to-farm recommendation. Councilman Kolber said this is a tough decision, but based on the information we received this is the decision. Upon roll call – Ayes: Councilmen Kolber and Weiss; Noes: Councilman DiCostanzo; Recuse: Deputy Supervisor Casilio. Absent: Supervisor Bylewski. Motion lost.

Kolber denied Snyders request for fireworks too. Why isn’t Kolber BAD for Clarence?

Uhhh . . . Joe – I don’t think Snyder is a volunteer fireman!!! Please get your facts straight. You are still going after Snyder for a $25 fireworks permit? Unbelievable!!!!! I think it is time to FINALLY after 8 years to let Weiss go with some sort of dignity. In a few months no one will ever have to think about this crazy man again.
