Rick Perry succeed in doing something very few could ever do–he’s making Hussein look like he’s got some class. No doubt, both are ridiculous, but if I ever have to participate in a public firing of my gun in the air, I’m going to wear a nice hat and act like I’ve been there before.

At least Perry is in favor of gun control, he says to “use both hands”.

…and he does an excellent job of practicing what he preaches in that picture.

Scariest moment of my week was courtesy of Ron Paul. In the Republican presidential candidates’ debate, he was asked about how to provide care for a hypothetical man with no health insurance. When his answer sounded like he was saying, essentially, that the guy was SOL, the moderator followed up asking, are you saying we should just let him die–?! People in the audience started screaming “Yes!” “YES!!” in a kind of bizarre collective hate orgasm.

There are myriad options for the hypothetical man, and there would be even more options without the government limiting choices and driving the cost of health care so high that normally intelligent people clamor for the government to get even more involved.

@MIWNY Don’t agree or disagree with your points — my point is solely about the absolutely bloodthirsty way some folks in the crowd screamed for the man to die. I suppose they also want him to do it quickly, and decrease the surplus population. And really, what business does that stupid uninsured man — dragging behind him his baggage of poor life decisions that he forged link by link and yard by yard — have showing up at one of OUR hospitals, built to serve the good productive wage-earners and monied types–?! Really: Are there no prisons–?! Are there no workhouses–?! Perhaps the man can regain his health, and place in society, there.

BTW, I love the epic 1970’s dictator mustache.

Perry is the best thing to happen to obama in some time now. Please nominate this asshole and put that annoying brainless twat from Wasilla on the back of his horse as a VP again.

Here’s a look at what Teabag Nation would be:

    http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2011/09/tea_party_constitution.html

It’s important that Americans understand exactly what these people have in mind for our country and that they take the sons of bitches out at the ballot box. These craven, evil people want to turn America into a Mad Max Meets Oliver Twist banana republic. They must be stopped or we are well and truly fucked.

All because we elected a black President.

Perry’s Luddite, “dumbed-down” approach” – and I don’t know enough about him to say if he’s really that way [although he’s an ‘Aggie’] or if it’s merely an outcome of his handlers’ coaching. He’s playing to the crowd who prefer singular and simplistic solutions. They’re the types who view the status quo as non-negotiable but balk at paying or sacrificing for any of it. Therein lies the real handicap for Mr. Perry and his followers; the challenges the nation is facing are a complex array of problems requiring critically engaged, creative, and thoughtful leadership, which is absent in this case.

The gun toting Perry picture is on the “Being Liberal” group on Facebook with the statement “If Perry is the answer, how crazy was the question?” Along the same lines, a good watch is the Social Security reform video posted at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MID0oqKYTSY&feature=youtu.be

@Bbill: I agree with WNY Mike. Eliminating every progressive advance of the last 110 years will result in the outbreak of Free Market Bliss. Pay no attention to Europe. We will not experience roving gangs of youths busting up stores and setting things on fire.

@5- In countries where the government is “involved” in healthcare the cost is substantially less but here in the US where the “free market” is involved in healthcare the costs are substantially more. Maybe the free market needs to get out of the way of government and stop exploiting our citizens basic need for healthcare.

Perry is a great candidate, he represents the new Republican Party perfectly. Perry is not too bright, smug and self righteous, and full of hate for government, he should be able to win many hearts and souls with this combination.

Do not know who my primary vote will go to yet. At this point I like Romney. I doubt Perry will get it, but not for the reasons of his position on a rights issue. (Yes the second amendment still grants the right that has been affirmed by the supreme court many times over). This post reminds me of some of the simple brained wing nut stuff we used to do over at Monroe Rising before it bit the dust. (it worked but lacked a requirement to think much). This still active link is a fine example.

There are default arguments in politics when you are down and want to feed red meat to your base. The Conservatives yell “he is communist liberal” the Liberals yell “stupid gun nut”. Come on Alan you are a smart guy you can do better than this! If this is the best argument against Perry, I fear a return of bumper stickers that say “Somewhere in Texas a village is missing it’s idiot” while he irritates you from the White House.
