Regarding a Political Opinion Poll

28 Oct

Hey, about those phone calls that voters are receiving purporting to be from the Poloncarz campaign, we’ll have some video up later, but here are a few issues:

The Collins campaign has it all figured out.

1. Here’s an audio recording of the outgoing message you hear when dialing the number at issue: (716) 250-7491:

[HTML1]

Now, if you Google that phrase: “If you received a call from this number, you were contacted regarding a political opinion poll“, you get this result – the same exact message, same exact voice comes up if you call (858) 634-5689.

2. At a press conference Friday at 1:00 pm, County Legislator Kevin Hardwick indicated that he had received what he thought to be a perfectly reasonable call from that same number, asking him to support Poloncarz, and reading from a script that outlined that Congressman Brian Higgins and Congresswoman Kathy Hochul had endorsed him.   That’s odd, since Hochul & Higgins didn’t formally endorse Poloncarz until October 28th, but the call Professor Hardwick received came on October 26th.

I asked Peter Anderson from the Poloncarz campaign, and he adamantly denied that the campaign – or any of its surrogates – was making these calls.

The smoking phone!

Hey, Chris and Stef – which union is busy making calls to San Diego County, California, and Erie County, New York?

Don’t know how comments got turned off on this post.  Our apologies. Comment away!

This article doesn’t prove anything. If anything it shows that it may be coming from a source closer to the Poloncarz campaign who has inside information on upcoming endorsements. Other than that its more of Alan’s assumptions.

Why can’t we have an honest goddamn election anymore?

This phone thing reminds me of stuff that Collin’s buddies, Roger Stone and Michael Caputo do. Don’t ever forget, Collins is cut out of this stuff, just look at what he orchestrated with the Jane Corloser campaign. The three stooges definitely pulled this one off. An operative does this kind of thing when it’s more than one county. It’s strategic. (As when Roger was the trickster for Nixon, the trickster for Bush to help him win Florida deviously, and of course, how can we forget his involvement with Spitzer. All just making up stuff. Collins was too fast to say those calls were from somewhere else. Too much alike!

    • Alan Bedenko October 29, 2011 at 4:54 pm #

Roger Stone and Michael Caputo? Based on my understanding, neither of them are pro-Collins.

There’s more opportunity and more money these days, jimd. But still, some damned awful things went on 20, 30, 40 years ago that weren’t as easily exposed so it might not’ve been better, just better hid.

  6. Kevin Hardwick October 29, 2011 at 6:00 pm #

Minor correction, Alan. I never said that the woman mentioned Higgins. It was Hochul and someone else. Someone suggested to me that it may have been DiNapoli. That may have been the case. I just don’t recall. It was a rather short, albeit very professional, call. I understand that this doesn’t change your point considering Hochul. I merely wanted to correct the record.

    Hardline with Hardwick.

Speaking of phone calls…public sector employees should not be doing campaign work while on our dime.

Do you know that our town of Cheektowaga has some rules about using town employees/equipment for personal/campaign work?

Ask the “watchdog” why does he think it’s ok?

    Wouldn’t these people know better?

Wouldn’t the man who wants to watch over our tax payer funds know better than to use public sector employees for democratic campaign work?

What about these democrats Alan? Shouldn’t they know the rules too?

Poloncarz isn’t Cheektowaga’s watchdog and has no reason to follow or enforce the town’s rules.

  10. King Kong October 30, 2011 at 1:16 pm #

I think that Poloncarz ends up taking it by 5-7. People are forgetting that a good chunk of the East Side is in Barbara Miller Williams district, where Tim Houges is running as a Democrat, Miller Williams is a Democrat running on the IP and an Independent Line and Joe Masica is a Democrat running on the Conservative lines. It’s likely to get Democrats fired up in that ward and when they vote for any of the three they’re likely to check the Poloncarz box as well. Plus there’s other competitive races in Poloncarz friendly territory like South Buffalo, Lackawanna, West Seneca and Hamburg.

    *district not ward

Tony, stop it with your repeated attempts at thread hijacks, no one cares. Now go back to that circle jerk of ignorance you call a website and rant so more about this.

  13. rastamick October 30, 2011 at 4:46 pm #

I could give a shit if Boris Yeltsin’s ghost channeled these calls through Roger Stone. Either way the lil guy is going to eat dirt on election day and rightfully so. Perfect timing for the rising tide of Occupy Everyplace, just as this millionaire prick is ripe for the unemployment line.

“Poloncarz isn’t Cheektowaga’s watchdog and has no reason to follow or enforce the town’s rules.”

“Tony, stop it with your repeated attempts at thread hijacks, no one cares. Now go back to that circle jerk of ignorance you call a website and rant so more about this.”

So both of you two are fine when your own politicians/party break the rules?

What type of watchdog are you guys promoting?

    • Alan Bedenko November 1, 2011 at 3:41 pm #

I can’t vote in Cheektowaga. I live in Clarence. Not my problem your head garbage man breaks the rules.

  15. Tony Fracasso November 1, 2011 at 4:33 pm #

Poloncarz is breaking the rules besides the Cheektowaga Democratic chairman. .

I don’t believe any person running for office including political parties can use government owned equipment/public sector workers while at work for campaign work.

If it was collin’s (any republican for that matter) telephone number coming up in the foil you would be all over it.

    Alan go watch this.

    • Alan Bedenko November 1, 2011 at 4:35 pm #

What rule is Poloncarz breaking, Tony? Citation, please

    • Alan Bedenko November 1, 2011 at 4:36 pm #

      Looked at your video.

      Cheektowaga isn’t Albany.

Poloncarz did nothing wrong. If Collins was busy wasting his time with your town garbage man, I’d say the same thing.

    • Alan Bedenko November 2, 2011 at 5:55 am #

Hey, Tony, what do you think of this tidbit that a tipster sent to me?

Ask the Collins Administration about his staff campaigning on government time. Specifically Chris Grant who opperates a consulting practice… running the 09 legislative campaigns and again this year the 2011 campaigns producing all the direct mail designs From a large MAC computer located on his office on the 16th floor… using county internet? How much is he charging his own allies?

He also ran the Jim Domagalski campaign last year… on county time…

only taking time off for the corwin debacle…

Does he report this outside income on his required disclosures?

Now remember: Chris Grant is not an elected official. He is an appointee who is supposed to literally punch a time clock (or swipe a time card), but has been repeatedly caught not doing so, instead doing campaign time quite literally on what should be the people’s time. Your silence is/was deafening.

  16. This Guy November 1, 2011 at 7:56 pm #

As much as I hate to feed the troll…

    1) Poloncarz is breaking no rules, Frank Max is.

    2) Do you know that Collins’ number is not on that list?

    3) Why don’t you ask Ted Morton why his petitions were printed using taxpayer resources in Ralph Mohr’s office in the BOE?

  17. Tony Fracasso November 3, 2011 at 2:53 pm #

Get me some proof of this and i’ll submit it to Andrew Cuomo also. As I said I don’t play favorites.
