Caution: Profanity Ahead

24 Oct

kid-w-middle-fingerIf you stand up to yell “Benghazi” at Hillary Clinton while she’s giving a speech about working together to solve problems, fuck you

If you go to Congress to do harm to your constituents, and then lie about it, fuck you

If, after three years, you still don’t understand that Obamacare isn’t a website, or government-run insurance, or socialized medicine, fuck you.

If you think Benghazi is unprecedented, and the worst thing since 9/11, then tell me more about Beirut 1983 and Nairobi 1998. And fuck you.

If you don’t vote, fuck you.

If you are complaining about the responsiveness of the Obamacare website but live in New York, try this instead and fuck you.

If you’re giving the mayor credit for things he didn’t do, and cheering a “boom” that is only benefiting the wealthy, white, and well-connected while the majority of the city is packed with joblessness, despair, poverty, and violence, fuck you.

If you’re arguing that the mayor of Buffalo is good enough for us here in Goodenoughistan, fuck you.

If you’re endorsing the mayor who isn’t even having the decency to campaign against his challenger because fuck you, fuck you.

If you think we should de-fund schools and leave it up to charity to make up the difference, fuck you.

If you are part of the astroturf cabal being paid off by libertarian billionaires to destroy public education in order to privatize the lot of it and retroactively re-impose segregation through privatization, fuck you.

If you hold any position of authority with the New York State Thruway Authority or the Department of Transportation, fuck you.

When western New York suburban roads are so horribly designed to protect pedestrian safety, and you have anything to do with it, fuck you.

If you’re a property owner and you don’t shovel your sidewalk when it snows, forcing pedestrians out into the street, double-check your insurance policy and fuck you.

Have a happy Thursday!

I’m glad you stopped before you got to something that applies to me!

Off-topic bullshit will be deleted. Fuck you.

    • rhmaccallum October 24, 2013 at 9:42 am #

So I guess a comment about you using “fuck you” at the end of every sentence in this article is “off topic” Alan? Strange. The article used it 15 times and it’s off topic? How about the author and the moderator being one and the same? Conflict? Or is that too off topic?

      • Alan Bedenko October 24, 2013 at 10:05 am #

Yes, it is off-topic. The topic isn’t profanity. There are myriad topics.

      • rhmaccallum October 24, 2013 at 11:28 am #

Here is my topic Alan. You often write excellent articles bringing to light outlooks, ideas and discussions that we would not have available in this town if we left things only to TBN and the TV news.
But…how much more effective and persuasive your writing might be, how much more you could reach…if…you made a conscious effort to control the juvenility in your nature when you put pen to paper.
I hate to see so many excellent points and essential ideas get overwhelmed by your tendency to be the negative mirror image of someone like say…Carl Paladino.
You, like I, would better serve your purpose by examining what you want to say and how you want it to be perceived and received. Your an exceptional columnist Alan. Just…make those of us that tend to agree with you overall proud of your skills and abilities. Write to inform and sway. Write so you can show your work proudly to your mother and your children.
I believe you can do it. You don’t need all the other stuff.

      • Alan Bedenko October 24, 2013 at 11:41 am #

This is why I deleted the first two comments.

Here is my topic Alan. You often write excellent articles bringing to light outlooks, ideas and discussions that we would not have available in this town if we left things only to TBN and the TV news.

        Thanks.

But…how much more effective and persuasive your writing might be, how much more you could reach…if…you made a conscious effort to control the juvenility in your nature when you put pen to paper.

So, when you watch a PG-13 movie, you can’t stand it because they used a 4-letter word. When you watch Goodfellas, it’d be so much of a better movie if those nice boys didn’t use such foul language. Good note.

I hate to see so many excellent points and essential ideas get overwhelmed by your tendency to be the negative mirror image of someone like say…Carl Paladino.

Get back to me on that when I spew racist hatred at people and reveal my penchant for forwarding emails containing anal horse-on-woman pornography.

My parents read, and I would have absolutely no problem letting my kids read this very column, because I don’t think bad words are any big deal in certain circumstances.

I believe you can do it. You don’t need all the other stuff.

I don’t write for you. I write for me. This was my blog post for the day. Like it or not, I don’t much care about your opinion about 4-letter words being used.

      • rhmaccallum October 24, 2013 at 11:55 am #

lol..I worked almost 30 years in NYS prisons. Foul language doesn’t bother me. As long as it is used appropriately and for meaningful effect. It only bothers when you watch a movie or hear a comic and realize that the sex and swearing are the main catch. Overdone it looses it’s charm and effect. And, if perchance you wanted to reach and sway someone who is overly Christian or pious or just a little old fashioned you lost them before you had a chance. Chances are they are the ones needing “swaying” most.
But have a good day. Gotta go now for a follow up visit to my “freaking” cardiologist.

  3. Hank Kaczmarek October 24, 2013 at 8:50 am #

If you yell “What about Benghazi” to Hillary Clinton, you’re using your constitutional right to Free Speech. Your fellow citizens don’t have to like it, but you do have the right to say it.
You also have the right not to like laws that are enacted for whatever reason. Perhaps the Whiskey Rebellion might serve as a better example. Obamacare isn’t a website. It’s a massive wealth re-distribution con-job. But it IS kind of sad that hundreds of millions of tax dollars were spent on a white elephant website. Dollars that could have been used to actually help out folks with their health care expenses.
If you believe that libertarians are trying to privatize Public Education to re-introduce segregation, I’ll be praying for you. Public education squanders millions and educates very little. Especially in Buffalo. I went to a non-diocesan Catholic HS in Buffalo because it offered the best education available in WNY at that time. If 2 HS grads are applying for college and one went to St. Joe’s or Canisius, and the other went to Riverside, it’s a pretty safe bet the privately educated will get the seat. They’re just better prepared for college academically.
As for the rest of it, He said it. Individuals mileage may vary.

    • Alan Bedenko October 24, 2013 at 8:56 am #

Hank, tell me what the Constitutional right to free speech means, in two sentences. Then explain in two more sentences the way in which the 1st Amendment was invoked when a person decided to heckle a speaker at an event.

Please don’t pray for me. That is the most condescending fucking thing a person can say to another person. I don’t need or want any prayers.

    • rhmaccallum October 24, 2013 at 9:38 am #

Angry yelling. That about sums up the Tea-Party mentality. We all know disagreeable never happy, always and perpetually ticked-off individuals who feel that somehow somebody is taking “theirs”. Now we know that there are defenders of these people, the ones we commonly identify as pricks. Rude, overbearing, pulsing veins in their necks. I for one have not much use for them.
Then there is the crowd that loves to throw the term “redistribution of wealth” around anytime they perceive something that doesn’t seem to redistribute the wealth to them. Odd how they lately never seem cognizant of the fact that this redistribution of wealth has redistributed upwards to the top 2, 3, 4, or 5 percent in this country at historically record breaking rates. Redistribution of wealth is only an evil as they see it when it is redistributed back down instead of concentrating it all at the top.
But…I preach only to the choir. You will never see it. You don’t want to see it. It just doesn’t fit into your old paradigms.

  4. jimd54 October 24, 2013 at 8:58 am #

If you are one of the misguided souls who blamed Pres. Obama for high gas prices but will not (misguidedly) give him credit for their decline, fuck you
If your house or business is located near a storm sewer grate and can’t get off your fat ass to clean it when it becomes clogged, fuck you. Yesterday I saw two DOT trucks on Main st., guys with shovels and rakes scraping crap off sewer grates. If you can’t do that much, don’t bitch about your high taxes.

  5. Sean Danvers October 24, 2013 at 9:45 am #

Gotta love the fact that the reds so deparately cling to Benghazi as the rally cry for why she can’t be trusted to do anything ever. Not to further strike an expired equine, but wasn’t there a few ‘Merican’s who died back in ’01 on a different admin’s watch due to total and complete intel failures and inactions? I’m pretty sure every major player on duty when that went down not only kept their job, but were re-elected.
They really must feel they have no chance of opposing Hillary running for Pres

    • Alan Bedenko October 24, 2013 at 9:54 am #

The Benghazi attacks against Hillary Clinton are merely the contemporary extension of the Vince Foster / Whitewater non-scandals of the 90s. The entire Republican hive-mind now realizes that its positions are unpalatable to the general population, and realize that they aren’t the party of Reagan so much as they’re the party of a small handful of raving Southern lunatics.

So, you don’t oppose Obama, you de-legitimize him by accusing him of being foreign-born, foreign, European, Muslim, Kenyan, Communist, a Manchurian Candidate, etc. You don’t just oppose Hillary, she is a college leftist, a Trotskyite, a murderer, someone who leaves our “heroes behind to die”.

And then you bend over backwards to de-legitimize any counterarguments by using rhetorical tricks like “heroes”. Because by using that word, you suddenly make the counterargument seem unpatriotic and beyond the pale. I mean, who in their right mind would permit someone to harm a hero?!

Right. The people who worked in a war-zone, hardship post like Benghazi were heroes. There was an attack and some of them were murdered by terrorists. The government didn’t kill them, nor did it improperly allow them to be killed. But if you say Hillary is culpable for allowing the deaths of heroes, people will buy it and you’ve just de-humanized Hillary as someone who just blindly allows murders to happen. Fuck everybody.

      • saltecks October 24, 2013 at 9:32 pm #

And if you bring up the bombing of the Marine Corps Barracks in Lebanon (240 casualties) or the bombing of the US Embassy in Lebanon (17 casualties) as a response to their Benghazi tirade they go thru every rhetorical contortion to prove why it’s different and why those in charge at the time cannot be held responsible.

  6. KBuffalo October 24, 2013 at 9:46 am #

I’d extend the “fuck you” to renters who don’t shovel their sidewalks. I rent, and I not only shovel my own, but that in front of the vacant lot next to me. Sometimes I even do the walk belonging to the slumlord-owned property on the other side, even though I love to see that guy get tickets. Why? Because I live in a society. Because hundreds of people walk up and down my street everyday and need those walks clear. Because a lot of those people are old, poor or both and rely on clear walks just like those with cars rely on clear roads. And because I hope that when I’m 90 and my life has shrunk to a daily three-block walk to buy milk and cat food at the 7-11, some young person will use their strength and energy to keep the sidewalks clear for me so I can get there safely.

People who neglect their walks are assholes. That’s all there is to it.

    • rhmaccallum October 24, 2013 at 11:31 am #

“Why? Because I live in a society.”
      Well put!

  7. Marquil October 24, 2013 at 9:53 am #

What? Nothing about the Sabres and their fracking ownership?

  8. Paul Buckley October 24, 2013 at 10:25 am #

I miss the Buffalo Pundit who could opinionate on Politics, and Economics, and Society without sliding to the profane. Where’d he go?

    • Alan Bedenko October 24, 2013 at 10:51 am #

I give you free content 4 – 5 days per week, the overwhelmingly vast majority of which is free from profanity.

This one time, I gave myself a break from it.

You, too, can give me a break.

      • Paul Buckley October 24, 2013 at 1:11 pm #

Ah, but the trend; the TREND! It’s become a lot more edgy, a bit more strained. Perhaps that 4-5 days a week is getting you to your wit’s end. Maybe step back a little. Enjoy the rest of your day, choose fewer battles. I worry about you busting a vein.

      • Alan Bedenko October 24, 2013 at 1:34 pm #

        My veins are fine.

  9. John Pfeffer October 24, 2013 at 10:29 am #

At this stage of the game, these aholes need to be told “Fuck you”. Most appropriate.

  10. hwhamlin October 24, 2013 at 11:27 am #

As of a couple of days ago, according to the pro-Obama NY Daily News, the NY Exchange to which you so helpfully guide us had not enrolled any actual insureds. Has this status improved since? (Of course it’s hard to tell, given that BCBS has been warned by the Regime not to disclose Exchange enrollment figures.)

      • hwhamlin October 24, 2013 at 2:38 pm #

And actually, according to Barry, Obamacare IS the website. On Sept. 26 he touted it, saying, “It’s a website where you can compare and purchase affordable health insurance plans, side-by-side, the same way you shop for a plane ticket on Kayak—same way you shop for a TV on Amazon. You just go on and you start looking, and here are all the options.”
“If you’ve ever tried to buy insurance on your own,” he said, “I promise you this is a lot easier.”
Right. To quote this blog, “Fuck you.”

      • ckg1 October 24, 2013 at 4:17 pm #

        And F you too.

    • George Costanza October 25, 2013 at 12:43 am #

The NY Daily News endorsed Romney for president. It is not pro-Obama.

  11. The Lewzer October 24, 2013 at 11:37 am #

To all of you Liberal Asshats that wrongly believe the Governemnt is the solution to ANYTHING-FUCK YOU AND GO DIE!!!!!!!

  12. Ray Stilwell October 24, 2013 at 11:40 am #

Please don’t hold out nyhealth.gov as some shining example of doing it right. It took me three tries to achieve a working login, it asked me for the last three months of my 2014 income, and, when it asked me to identify my current plan and I sought out Independent Health, I got this utterly clusterfuckable, nonsearchable, nonsortable dropdown. I am not going off the deep end over it, but plainly this is something that needs to be fixed.

    • Alan Bedenko October 24, 2013 at 11:44 am #

Worked fine for me 3 weeks ago.

      • Michael Rebmann October 24, 2013 at 12:58 pm #

I was on the site last night for an hour. It was horrible and the information available was crap. The coverage for a plan much worse than what I have now was a whopping $60 per month cheaper. The bill of goods being sold as Obamacare is a pipe-dream that will never live up to its promises.

  13. The Lewzer October 24, 2013 at 11:41 am #

The Economic engine of WNY is now and has been the Suburbs and that’s where any public or private investment should be centered. Let the city continue to rot and see if any of the uneducated and drug addled residents can rescue it!!!! Doubtful!

    • Oswald Carnes October 24, 2013 at 4:07 pm #

Fuck you and whatever sub-urban whore you’re shacked up with.

    • ckg1 October 25, 2013 at 4:28 am #

In the words of Penn Jillette: Fuck you in the neck, MOTHERFUCKER.

  14. The Lewzer October 24, 2013 at 12:01 pm #

You don’t even let dissenting opinions be expressed? S’up with that? Censorship!!

  15. Kevin Kobb October 24, 2013 at 12:22 pm #

If you vote to allow casino gambling, and thereby allow politicians to stuff money in their pockets, fuck you.

    • Merrrce October 24, 2013 at 6:00 pm #

Also, who thought putting a casino at the backdoor of the projects was a good idea? How does that benefit the area?

  16. mike raleigh October 24, 2013 at 12:36 pm #

Buffalo News does it again with that Brown endorsement. Wow

  17. Marquil October 24, 2013 at 12:49 pm #

Popular post. Might I suggest a regular feature: Fuck You Friday. Perhaps for balance you could precede it with Thank You Thursday.

  18. jamesholstun October 24, 2013 at 9:30 pm #

The razor-sharp wit of Andy Rooney, and the verbal aplomb of a staggering sophomore on Chippewa. And if you think Hilary Clinton is all about “working together to solve problems”–well, no abuse, just pity. Hey, all those people she and her drones killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and Yemen and Libya–they’re not really dead: they’re Demo-dead.® And their problems are solved forever.

  19. George Costanza October 25, 2013 at 12:48 am #

I have to take issue with the non-voters one. The average voter is either completely uninformed or misinformed (than you Fox). Most people are simply too ignorant to make an informed voting decision and I suspect that non-voters are no more informed than the average voter. People who realize that they are too ignorant to vote and then decide not to vote should be thanked.
