Peace Bridge Some More

25 Aug

Peace Bridge, Peace Bridge, Peace Bridge.

I’m disappointed to learn that Homeland Security under Obama has agreed with the Bush Administration’s conclusions and put the kibosh on Shared Border Management. Seriously, I think this is a major mistake on Obama’s part. It’s stupid.

This means that the issue of a new plaza on the New York side to accommodate the new bridge is raised anew.

It also means that our local delegation to Congress will have a lot to say about this project in the coming days and months. Word is that Slaughter is angry, but Higgins will remain positive.

A spokesman for Common Tern (D-OMGLOOKOUT!) was unavailable for comment.

Higgins co-opted Lee early on on this one. All Higgins wants is short term jobs. It is why he supported the bass pro on the waterfront and why he supported the horrible highway project that will prevent future development along the waterfront just past the skyway. He is thick as thieves with PAul Brown and the trades unions. It is not about building the best project – it is about building any project now regardless of the long term effects on this community.

Higgins has been lobbying against shared border management almost from day one. He would tell the press he agrees with the idea and then go have the weekly breakfast with Paul Brown and give them advice on how to scuttle the whole thing. He took Ron Reinas with him – who was also speaking out of both sides of his mouth.

Higgins is smart – he knows the electorate is uninformed and largely uninterested. If he can cut a ribbon, any ribbon, that is all he cares about. He is smart enough to know he is supporting bad project but he is also desperate enough to keep his job that he will support anything to keep fooling the poor saps who don’t even read the paper but can be tricked into thinking he cares. Where else is a guy like him going to make the money he does and have the power he does. You have to be willing to sell your soul – and he has.

He is not the guy we all thought was doing good things while he was in the assembly.

I agree Alan. Wholeheartedly. It is a shared border. the Management of the Border should be shared as well.

Twice this month alone you have opined on the failures of the man who got your vote. (Obama) And just last week you sang the praises of Brian Higgins.
At least you’re getting the ass-fucking you begged for.

I’ll take a thousand Obama failures over one more day of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

yeah, Higgins has been phenomenally disappointing, after he brought so much hope originally. It seems as though he allowed himself to get bogged down in the politics.

Alan, I did not realize Obama was running against Bush/Cheney. How did I miss that?

Probably because I didn’t assert that. Or else you can’t read. One way or another, hope that helps.

Good on ya Alan—the Pied Piper starts blowing a tune entitled “Go Piss up a Rope”, and you lap it up like gravy. When your girls go to work and want to know why they have to pay 80% of their income to China in taxes for ANOTHER of Obama’s failures, empty your savings account and give it to them—because YOU are to blame for the hardships they will endure.

What new bridge do we need a new plaza for, Alan? For the love of God, man, that thing is not ever getting built. Why are we kidding ourselves? It’s been 12 years since the twin span idea was aired. 12 years we’ve worked on a plan to get something built there, and all we have is enough paper that if we stacked it on the current bridge it would collapse into the Niagara River.
