Bass Pro Update

16 Jan

bassproplaza.jpgToday is was supposed to be D-Day for Bass Pro – the deadline for a deal to be finalized.

But the deadline’s been extended. Surprise, surprise. There is “momentum” towards a revised deal that would bring Bass Pro to a smaller, non-Aud parcel closer to the water’s edge.

How about “Airport Plaza Bass Pro”?

Does that mean no more of those stupid “arm and a leg” commercials? I’m all for it. I just wish the city would tell BassPro to shit or get off the pot.

Johnny Morris is playing the city like a 42″ musky on a 2/0 hook with a live shiner for bait.

raoul, didn’t you mean “shit or cut bait”? Or maybe, “fish oir get off the pot”.

I think the Bflo News Editorial gets the point (ie. don’t give Bass Pro anything / everything that doesn’t make sense for the City and the bigger Waterfront plans – if there really is a plan).

This has become ridiculous. Is the store that needed and that great? Why all the bending over backwards to bring one store to the area?

After reading Pundit’s comment, all I could say is, you HAVE to be bullshitting me. EXTENDED? This is the biggest anti-climax in Erie County since the implosion of the Domed Stadium for the Bills in Lancaster. It was a short forty years ago.

There’s a Bass Pro Shop in Concord Mills Mall, about 40 miles from my place. The Mall is on the other side of the interstate from Lowe’s Motor Speedway. I once went in there looking for some “blue blocker” sunglasses and to look at the camping equipment they had. Sunglasses started at about 60.00, and went up to over 250.00/pr. and this was about 6 years ago.

Don’t know too many people in WNY who would even go out in a fishing boat with a 60.00pr of sunglasses, much less a 250.00 pr. you can buy about 16 pairs of cheapies at CVS for that much, and if they fall off your head into the river, who gives a shit?

Someone needs to go to the Bass Pro people, on behalf of the people of WNY, and in true British fashion, tell them to “piss off”, and be done with it. I’m so over the thing.

I shop Basspro online. Since they started expanding, so have their prices. What used to be a good deal is now a little over the edge, except for the occasional gift. You can get the same selection cheaper at Gander mountain, SprawlMart, and you can get the basic stuff a hell of a lot cheaper at the local mom & pop bait and tackle.
